Marchetti?”

“Yes, that's us, please, what’s happened to our daughter? Is she going to be okay?” Mr. Marchetti asked.

“I'm Doctor Michaels. I’m the one attending to your daughter. I’m afraid that Miss Marchetti was poisoned.” The doctor informed them, causing everyone in the room to fall silent.

“What the hell do you mean she was poisoned?” Vitale snapped out, pushing his way forward before Vance and I could ask the same question.

“From what we were able to gather, it seems that someone got into her room disguised as a doctor and injected the poison into her IV. With the circumstances in which she was brought to us, when her vitals suddenly started failing we ran a test called the Marsh test which is used to detect certain metals in poisons and found it quickly in her blood stream. We removed the IV bag after noticing no needle marks anywhere else on her body.”

“What the hell was the security guard outside her door doing during all of this?” I questioned, pissed off that he allowed someone into her room to do this in the first fucking place.

“And you are?” The doctor asked.

“These are the men who rescued my Lillian.” Her mother announced, looking thankful to us even if no one else in the world she lived in was.

“What's being done about this?” Vance asked.

“We have replaced the security guard outside her door and myself and nurse Patterson will be the only two allowed into the room to treat her. Our head of security, Mr. Tucker, has put his best man on the job and assured me of her safety from here on out. He will also be reviewing all the footage on our security cameras to see if we can't identify the man responsible for this. I can assure you Miss Marchetti is in good hands now.”

“When can we see her? Is she going to be okay?” Her father questioned.

“We caught it in time before any real damage could be done to her organs, so once I give her another exam to ensure we are out of danger I will have nurse Patterson come out and find you.”

“Thank you for saving my baby, Doctor.” Lily’s mom sobbed, grabbing his hand.

“Yes, thank you.” Her father echoed, pulling his wife in for a tight hug, relief covering his face.

“Your welcome. I'm going to go get that final exam done so you can see your daughter.” The doctor exited the room with a nod.

“I want Kelan on this now. I know he can find out who this was a hell of a lot faster than these assholes.” Vance spoke up, echoing my own thoughts.

“Already on it,” Carter informed him, holding up his phone. “I called him, and he's already hacked into their security system. He will email any clear images he’s able to pull from the footage.”

“Thanks, brother. Damn glad your both here.”

“Nowhere else we would be, you know that,” Hudson chimed in, patting Vance’s back.

“Now we just have to figure out this whole mess with Vitale thinking he's going to take Lily from us,” I said.

“If I know you two, you’ll figure out a way to keep her right where she belongs...with the both of you.” Hudson tried to assure me.

Knowing what Vance and I felt for her there was no other place she belonged, but I couldn't help hearing Vitale’s words ring through my head.

Were we taking her deserved lifestyle away from her?

Would she grow bored of our life on the ranch together once she regained her memory?
