Looking at the email again,Giselle clicked on the link and held her breath. The house Austin was looking at was breathtakingly beautiful and full of character. She grabbed a tissue as she stared in disbelief and comprehension that he was planning on buying them a home to start their ‘forever’ together.

The flowerbeds were overgrown badly – and there was an untouched area in the backyard that looked like a garden. She had never planted a thing in her life, but now? Just looking at that photograph of the home, she was wanting to put down roots permanently… and plant vegetables.

The bedrooms were tiny and so was the living room – but the kitchen was immense… and she loved it.

Massive golden cabinets soared to the high ceilings and the backsplash was covered with an old, circular tile that needed a good cleaning. The countertops were a god-awful swirled, peanut butter-ish color that was horrifying… and she almost laughed. Those countertops probably kept the house from selling out of sheer disgust.

The light fixtures were dated, and massive drapes covered the windows, making her wonder what it would look like if she yanked them down and let in the sunshine.

Her heart was fully ‘in’ on this house, and she was beyond touched that he had found them a home.

Hitting reply, she began to type… hoping he understood just what she meant.

Beloved,

I cherish the house so much. I have some money set aside as well (since we’ve never discussed this before) and it’s simply magnificent. I guess we should get settled first before we start browsing for planes – and I need you to teach me what to look for so I can be your partner on our next adventure.

I’m sitting here, staring at the screen and keep scrolling through the photos, picturing moments and events in that home… but those countertops?

Can that be our first project together? Ha ha ha!

Oh Austin, I’m so overwhelmed right now – and so in love with you! I can see ‘spoon karaoke’ together, lazy Saturday mornings sharing coffee on the porch, and… I want to fill those rooms someday with babies.

I never thought I would say that, but I want to hold our baby someday and just thinking about it has made me all emotional. I love you so much – and you are the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Put in the offer, my fearless knight, and let’s take hold of our ‘castle’, making it our own.

XOXO,

Giselle

The next morning, she couldn’t help the tearful laugh that escaped her as she opened his email – overcome with sheer happiness at his obvious exuberance.

My beloved Paladin,

To quote the greatest ‘poet’ in the world…?

On a boat…

Or in a plane!

On those ugly counters,

Or in the rain…

In a chair?

In a lair!

Every time we are alone… and everywhere!

We already did it in the bathroom,

I think you’re incredible…
