"I don't dislike him," Kerina said. "But he's not my type."

Devlin clucked his tongue. "Shame. Still, if you change your mind, remember what Gwendolyn said. Big dick energy."

Kerina nodded. "Noted."

Devlin turned to me. "Do you think Viva will be up for it?"

I blinked. "What?"

"She seems to dig you, Bain, and Knox," Devlin explained. "She might want an actual big dick—"

"Metaphorical big dick," Gwendolyn said.

"Actualbig dick," Devlin repeated, "in her harem."

"Um." My eyebrows shot up. Harem? Was that what this was? I was up for it, if that was the case. "That's up to Viva. For the record, she already has a big dick."

Kerina snorted.

"Guy with a big dick," I said for clarity. "But she might want two." Or more. As long as one was me, then I would roll with whatever she wanted.

With any luck, she'd let me watch, too.

Viva

Thankfully,we didn't head back to the city on motorbikes. Instead, we travelled in a big, black car.

Being all alpha and stuff, Bain sat in the front while Slade drove. I expected the Watcher to have a driver, but apparently he preferred to do it himself.

That left Knox and I to sit in the back, with a trusted guard whose name I didn't know.

Like his boss, he had piercings in his ears and nose and tattoos covering his hands.

Unlike his boss, he didn't look like a tattooed geek. He looked more like a gorilla.

Fortunately, he seemed more interested in looking out the window than engaging us in conversation.

That was fine with me.

Wesley had opted to stay behind. Apparently an expert instrument maker lived near the Keep. I hated to leave him behind, but he was certain he was safe there.

Safe without me around.

"Are you okay?" Knox took my hand and laced his fingers in mine.

I should have pulled my hand away, but I didn't. I might feel bad later for not keeping my distance, but right now I could use a bit of comfort.

"Yeah. Glad we're away from there." I suppressed a shudder. I would have to be careful or they'd take my badass card away. I prided myself on my independence. I hate that these attacks were stifling that.

It was beyond not okay. Way past not cool, and heading into fucked up as fuck territory.

"Can you…" His brow creased.

"Use power?" I whispered. I glanced at Slade and Gorilla Guy, but neither seemed to be listening. I wasn't silly enough to think they weren't though.

"Yeah," I said finally. I tried, tentatively, the moment we stepped out of the Keep.
