Fiona followed the maid into Daniel’s quarters. They walked into the large sitting area that was beautifully furnished with expensive furniture. A massive crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. Daniel was sitting in his wheelchair by the balcony. Fiona walked out onto the marble-tiled balcony. He stared at her as she walked up to him. It made Fiona slightly nervous. She could feel his green gaze burning a hole through her.

“Good morning, your highness,” she said as she approached him and stood in front of him.

“What are you doing here?” he asked her.

“Lady Agaiby asked me to look after you.” She smiled at him but he did not return her smile.

“I do not need your assistance,” he replied.

“I am already here. So you might as well use my servicesas you wish.”

“As I wish?”

“Anything within reason of course.”

Daniel stared at her for a moment with a blank facial expression. Fiona took a deep breath. “Have you had breakfast?” she asked him.

“You will probably quit within a week. So why don’t you save us both the trouble and just leave now?” he said to her. Fiona barely reacted. His grandmother had already warned her that he would be difficult. So she had come prepared.

“I came all the way from America. There is no way I will just quit within a week. Besides, why would I leave a well-paying job?” she said.

“Why did you take this job?”

“I needed a job,” she answered honestly.

“So, it’s all about money.”

“No, it’s not. I actually do like helping people. I’d never take a job that I did not like just for the sake of money.”

Daniel barely reacted. He didn’t seem to believe her. However, that did not matter to Fiona. “I will go and get your breakfast ready,” she said to him. She turned on her heel and headed back into the house.

Fiona asked one of the maids to take her to the kitchen. Daniel actually had his own kitchen in his quarters. The chef was already finished preparing his breakfast. “Perfect timing,” said Fiona.

The maids assisted her in taking the food to the dining room. There were different foods prepared such as eggs, toast, avocadoes, fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice and tea. There was enough food for two people. It must have been nice to be royalty. You could dine on your choice of fine foods.

Fiona returned to the balcony. “Your breakfast is ready,” she said to Daniel. He was still on the balcony. This time he was looking at something on his phone.

“I am not hungry,” he replied.

“Your highness, you should at least eat some–”

Before she could finish speaking, Daniel cut her off. “I said I am not hungry,” he snapped.

“Okay,” Fiona replied softly. She wasn’t going to force him to eat if he wasn’t hungry. She went back to the house and asked the maids to return the food to the kitchen. Then she went into the living room and sat on the sofa. The sofa was facing the balcony. She wanted to sit where she could see Daniel. Since he was being stubborn about eating, she decided not to force him. She was just going to sit there and wait for him to say that he wanted to eat or go somewhere.

Fiona watched him scrolling through his phone. He was wearing a navy blue T-shirt that hugged his sculpted body. He had very long limbs. She could see that he was quite tall. Daniel had a nice strong jaw. He was so handsome, Fiona thought to herself. Suddenly Daniel looked up from his phone and saw Fiona looking right at him. He looked a bit surprised but he didn’t look away. Fiona quickly looked away. She didn’t want him to know that she had been staring at him but it was pointless. She had already been caught. She looked at him from the corner of her eye to see if he was still looking at her, and he still was.
