An awkward silence stretched between Fiona and Lady Agaiby. The older woman seemed to be studying Fiona. The maid returned with a teapot and cups. She poured tea for both Lady Agaiby and Fiona before she left.

“You are not my grandson’s usual type,” Lady Agaiby said at last. Fiona looked up. “I guess feelings can develop when people spend so much time together,” she added.

“I only came to El Saad with the intention of working. I wasn’t trying to seduce the prince.”

“I don’t think that you are that type of woman either. However, I trust no one when it comes to my grandson.”

“I understand.”

Lady Agaiby did not continue immediately. “I will not be firing you for now but I will keep my eyes on you,” she finally said.

“You are not firing me?” Fiona was confused. She thought that Lady Agaiby would fire her.

“Your presence seems to be positively affecting my grandson. I don’t want to do anything that will impede his recovery.”

Suddenly a maid rushed outside with a phone in her hand. She bowed her head to Lady Agaiby. “I am sorry to interrupt, but there is an important phone call for you,” she said.

“Who is it?” Lady Agaiby asked.

“It is Dr. Hunt from Johns Hopkins.”

“Oh.” Lady Agaiby’s eyes widened. She stretched her hand out to the maid. The maid gave her the phone. “Hello,” Lady Agaiby spoke into the receiver of the phone.

Fiona didn’t know whether she was to get up and give her space or just sit there pretending as though she wasn’t listening to her phone conversation.

“Yes…really…I understand…that is fine….I will do…okay, thank you for calling,” said Lady Agaiby. She almost leaped out of her chair when she hung up the call.

“Is everything okay?” Fiona asked her.

“Everything is wonderful, dear.” Lady Agaiby rose to her feet. She had a big smile on her face. Fiona immediately got up to her feet as well. Lady Agaiby took Fiona’s hands into hers. “I have the best news,” she said.

“What is it?” Fiona asked.

“I found a doctor that can operate on Daniel.”

“What?” Fiona was confused. She needed a bit more information.

“The operation is risky but Daniel is in great health, so he has good chances of making a full recovery.”

Fiona’s eyes widened. “You mean he might walk again?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“Oh my God!” Fiona cried out and jumped twice. “This is great news!”

“Let’s go tell him,” said Lady Agaiby. Fiona nodded. The lady turned on her heel and started walking. Fiona quickly rushed off with her.

Lady Agaiby and Fiona reached Daniel’s quarters moments later. Daniel was sitting at his sofa. He looked up from his phone and crossed his eyebrows. “Why are the both of you coming in together?” he asked.

“I have news for you,” said Lady Agaiby.

“I’ve had enough news this week. I don’t wish to hear any more.”

Lady Agaiby and Fiona looked at each other. “You have to hear this,” said Fiona. Daniel raised his eyebrows.

“Does it have anything to do with why the both of you are together?” he asked. Lady Agaiby rolled her eyes.

“Just listen, I spoke to a doctor from Johns Hopkins,” she said.
