“I assure you the prince did not sleep here, and I did not seduce your son,” Fiona replied. The queen slapped Fiona again.
“How dare you talk back to me?” she spat out.
“Mother, your behavior is unacceptable right now,” Said Daniel. He did not like seeing his mother treating Fiona like that. It made him so angry.
“Daniel, go back to your quarters.”
“No.”
“This is outrageous!” she said. She turned her attention to Fiona. “Pack your bags, I want you out of this palace within ten minutes and out of this country as soon as possible.”
“You cannot fire her,” said Daniel.
“Yes I can.”
“No you cannot. Only Lady Agaiby can do that.”
“I am sure she will agree with me on this.”
Daniel rolled his eyes. “I am a grown man. It is my business where I choose to sleep. You can’t meddle in my life like this,” he said. His mother crossed her eyebrows.
“You are to marry Amina. You cannot be seen with trash like this,” she said. Daniel raised his eyebrows.
“Fiona is a hundred times the woman Amina will ever be,” he said.
“I am sorry that you are both arguing because of me,” said Fiona.
“You don’t need to be sorry,” Daniel said to her.
“I will start packing.”
“You will do no such thing,” Daniel said sternly. His voice was suddenly deeper and full of authority. Fiona just nodded and took a few steps back. The queen was standing there in disbelief. She could not believe her eyes.
“This conversation is far from over,” she said. She turned on her heel and walked off. Daniel slammed the door after his mother had left. He couldn’t believe her behavior.
“Why would you want to pack your bags?” Daniel asked Fiona.
“Your mother doesn’t want me here,” Fiona replied.
“So you are willing to go because of her?”
Fiona ran her hand through her hair. “I don’t want to go. I don’t want to leave you. I don’t want to fight with your mother, this is just too much,” she said.
“Come here,” he said. Fiona walked closer to him. He took her hand and sat her down on his lap. She placed her hands on his chest. Daniel held her face in his hands. “You just need to stay by my side and trust me,” he said. Fiona nodded. He pulled her closer to him and kissed her.
