“So you don’t deny the fact that you were looking forward to seeing him.”

Emma laughed guiltily. “I’m curious as to how things are going to be. It’s a little awkward,” she said. Madison laughed.

“No, you’re a little awkward; especially when it comes to men,” Madison retorted. Emma laughed. She couldn’t even say anything because Madison was right. Emma was quite awkward when it came to men. She never knew what the right thing to say or do was.

They walked through the mall and went into different shops. Emma bought one pair of shoes for Cynthia and one for Mia. She bought a new bag for her mother. She wanted her to start her new job with a new bag.

Emma and Madison decided to have lunch at a Lebanese restaurant. The two of them had dined at many restaurants at the mall but they hadn’t dined at the Lebanese restaurant. Madison said that she was keen to try it. Emma agreed because she was always interested in trying out new foods. She had recently tried out food from El Sourial at Kiro’s house. She had loved it. The food had been absolutely amazing. The waiter showed them to their table and gave them their menus.

The waiter returned moments later. “Are you ladies ready to order?” the waiter asked them.

“Yes.” Emma looked up from her menu. Just as she was about to order her food, she noticed a handsome dark man at the opposite table with another man. Emma gasped and hid behind her menu.

“What is it?” Madison asked her.

“It’s Kiro,” she whispered.

“What?” Madison turned around and started searching the room.

“Well don’t turn!”

“Why not? Why are you hiding?”

“I don’t know. That was just my first reaction,” she replied. Madison’s jaw hung open as she stared at Emma with a narrowed gaze. Emma looked at the amused waiter. She smiled at him. “Sorry about that,” she said.

“No worries,” he replied.

“I’ll have pita bread for starters. For the main course, I’ll have rice and lamb,” she said. He nodded as he wrote her order down on his note pad. He looked at Madison.

“I’ll just have the same please,” she said. The waiter nodded before he walked off. Emma tucked her hair behind her ear. She had wanted to see Kiro and now she was in the same restaurant with him. She wasn’t sure what to do.

“This is so awkward,” said Emma.

“Go over and say hi to him,” Madison suggested. Emma giggled.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“He’s with someone and it’s awkward.”

“So you are going to sit there and pretend not to see him?”

“Yup, basically.”

Madison burst into laughter. “You are ridiculous,” she said. She turned around and looked at Kiro. “Sheikh Besada,” she called. Emma’s eyes flew wide open. Kiro looked up. He raised his eyebrows.

“I can’t believe you just did that,” Emma whispered. The man he was sitting with turned around. It was Raphael. He immediately smiled. Emma awkwardly waved at them.

“Emma! Come join us with your friend,” said Raphael.

“We’re—” Emma was just about to refuse when Madison cut her off.

“Yes, we would like that,” she said. She looked at Emma. “He’s so handsome,” she whispered before she grabbed her shopping bags and rose to her feet. She didn’t even give Emma the opportunity to say anything. She just got up and headed over to their table. Raphael asked one of the waiters to add chairs to their table.

Emma reluctantly picked up her shopping bags and followed Madison. Kiro leaned back in his chair and watched Emma as she walked over to their table. His gaze made her nervous.

“Good afternoon, Sheikh Besada,” she said as she sat down. She turned to face Raphael. “Good afternoon, sir,” she said to him.
