“Please call me Raphael,” said Raphael with a smile.
“Okay.” Emma nodded.
“Hello Emma,” Kiro greeted her. His voice was smooth and alluring. Emma’s insides melted like butter on a hot pan when she heard her name on his lips. He gave her a small smile that made her heart beat faster than normal.
“Hi.” Emma’s voice came out high-pitched. Madison placed her hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing. Emma cleared her throat. “Did you have a good trip?” she asked him. This time she put some bass in her voice.
“It was fine,” he replied. He kept his dark gaze on her. Emma stared back at him. It suddenly felt like there was no one else in the room. She shyly smiled and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
Raphael cleared his throat. “I’m Raphael,” he said to Madison as she extended her hand for a handshake.
“I’m Madison, Emma’s best friend,” she said as she shook his hand.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Emma burst into laughter. “I’m awful at introductions,” she added. Raphael laughed with her. Madison smiled and shook her head. She too knew that Emma was horrible with introductions. The waiter brought their food and drinks.
“So you are Emma’s boss,” Madison said to Kiro.
“I am,” he replied.
“She turned around and called out your name as if she knew you,” said Raphael.
“It means Emma was talking about me,” said Kiro. Emma’s eyes widened.
“She only pointed you out,” said Madison.
“Does she talk about me often?”
“No,” Emma replied.
“I hope you speak highly of me,” said Kiro.
“Hmm.” Madison gave Kiro a cheeky grin. Emma shook her head and looked away. Madison seemed determined to see Emma melt in Kiro’s presence.
The four of them talked while they ate. Emma caught Kiro looking at her on many occasions. It made her incredibly shy. She had to resist the urge to giggle. Madison also caught Kiro looking at Emma a few times. She would wiggle her eyebrows or wink at Emma. It made Emma feel awkward.
After they finished eating, Kiro paid the bill. Madison smiled and nodded at Emma. She was clearly impressed by him.
“Thank you for the lunch,” Emma said to Kiro.
“Yes, thank you so much. That was very gentlemanly of you,” said Madison. Kiro touched Emma’s lower back. She inhaled sharply. His touch was so unexpected. He moved closer to her and kissed her cheek lightly.
“I’ll send a driver for you tomorrow,” he said to her.
