Letting go of Corey, she stalked toward me. “I’m warning you,” she said in a lethal tone. “I will kill if you betray me again. I won’t even care about Brian this time.”

“You don’t have to worry,” I replied in a serious voice. “You’re our girl. We’ll always protect you.”

“I’m not your girl!”

“You’ll always be our girl,” said Corey from behind her.

She glared at the two of us. “This is going to be strictly professional,” she said in a tight voice. “Help me get your Dad’s position and I’ll let go of what happened in the past. If you break your promise, I’ll make sure you pay up this time.”

“Trust us,” I said.

She shook her head. “Your words mean nothing to me. Prove them by your actions. Get me the CEO position.”

Corey glanced toward me.

Holding his gaze, I gave a nod.

Between us, we’d already decided to support Azalea’s claim to the position. Noah needed to work on his issues before taking on such an important role in the company. Now that Milla was with us, I believed we could finally heal the wounds we’d inflicted on ourselves.

“You’ll have it,” I said. “Noah won’t get what he’s been after for so long. He needs to learn to let it go or lose everyone around him.”

Milla looked taken aback by my reply. She struggled to keep a straight expression but I knew she was busy trying to figure us out.

Her mistrust was understandable.

We’d hurt her in the past and it was our job to make her see we’d changed, that we truly cared about her.

“Fine, then,” she said, straightening her jacket. “You can prove yourselves to me at the dinner party later tonight.” With that, she headed toward the door, opened it, and walked out.

“Do you think we can win her back?” Corey asked me.

“We’ve got to make her trust us first,” I said.

He gave a nod. “Let’s do that, then. I’m done being on my own.”

“Hey,” I growled. “I’ve always been around, asshole.”

“You know what I mean,” he said.

I gestured toward the bulge in his pants. “She’d have kneed your junk if she noticed that.”

He chuckled. “What could I do? I couldsmellher, Cal. I wanted to kiss her so bad.”

“I’m glad you didn’t.”

“I know. My balls are precious to me.” He looked down at his bulge with loving eyes and patted it gently.

I rolled my eyes and got to my feet. “I’m heading home now,” I said. “I guess you’ll need some time before you can catch up?”

He winked and gave me a thumbs-up.

Shaking my head but smiling, I walked out of the suite.

Life finally threw us a blessing and I was going to do everything I could to make it work for us all.
