Corey and I glanced at each other. The look in his eyes told me to stay calm.

I agreed with him. We had to give Milla the space to consider everything we told her.

“Will you betray Noah for me?” Milla finally spoke up.

“Betray Noah?” I questioned. “What exactly do you have in mind?”

“You already know I want the CEO position of Amhurst Co.,” said Milla. “Noah wants it too. Who are you going to help?”

A chuckle escaped Corey. “Is that all you want?”

Surprise flickered through her eyes.

“Are you sure you don’t want him castrated?” Corey asked with a serious face.

“What?”

“Or you know, we could always go with decapitation,” he added.

“You’d do that for me?” Milla whispered.

“Nah,” said Corey. Leaning on the edge of his seat, he whispered conspiratorially, “But, we know people who’d do it for a service fee.”

A comically stunned expression came over her.

“We’ve been mad at ourselves for following him blindly,” I added in a grim tone. “Both Corey and I feel that you’ll do better as CEO than him.”

“You can’t be serious,” Milla breathed.

“Why not?” Corey questioned. “When Dad announced about this Azalea lady last week, what did you think we did? We found out everything we could about you and Azalea Electronics. You’ve done an amazing job with establishing the company and keeping it going. If you wanted, you could buy out your shares and run it independently from Amhurst Co.”

“Noah’s not bad at running a business,” I said in a sober tone. “But he lacks certain qualities. He’s a dictator, not a leader. He gets obsessed with his own decisions and wouldn’t listen to anyone who disagreed with him. That’s not how you lead an organization as big as Amhurst Co. Corey and I decided to vote for Azalea long before you arrived.”

“It’s just the cherry on top to know thatyou’reAzalea,” said Corey with a bright smile.

I hadn’t seen my brother smile like that in years. How could he not, though? Milla was here right before us. She was alive and doing so well.

All our fears were suddenly gone.

Milla got to her feet and moved past us to reach the coffee table in the corner. Placing her empty cup there, she turned around to face us.

“You know I can use a gun now,” she said in a soft voice. “And I’m a pretty great shot.”

My grin widened.

Just imagining her with a gun in her hand sent my heart pounding against my chest. Her Azalea avatar was hot as hell.

“Why are you both smiling?” she demanded, looking annoyed.

“You’re still so cute,” Corey said with a chuckle. “Just look at you trying to threaten us.”

Milla stomped toward him. Grabbing his collar, she pulled him close and stared deep into his eyes.

“You won’t be laughing when my bullets pierce your heart,” she hissed.

Corey swallowed and I noticed the bulge growing in the tent of his trousers. I smothered a chuckle. Milla wanted to scare him but all she was doing was arousing my bastard brother.

She suddenly turned her head toward me.
