“Well, I don’t.”

“Bullshit. You never told me to stop.” I turn to look at him. “You want me to stop?”

He narrows his eyes at me, adjusts his bag on his shoulder, and increases his pace towards the gym door.

Oh. He does like it.

I run a couple steps to catch up with him. “We rolling tonight?”

“We can,” Ty mutters.

“Hm, we can,” I mock him, then put my arm out in front of his chest to make him stop.

He sighs and turns to look at me.

“Look,” I sigh as well. “This hurts to say, again, and I hate this more than anything, but you have something I need. I need to roll with you tonight so I can be ready for this weekend.” I grimace as I grit out, “Please?”

Ty just looks back at me for a moment before he nods curtly. “Sure.”

My mouth drops open in shock. “Sure? Sure? Not fine? Oh my god. The growth.”

Ty just rolls his eyes and yanks the door open to the gym, letting it smack me right in the face.

Asshole.

“Hey, Ty,” I hear Adão greet him. As I enter behind Ty, Adão’s eyes slide to me with confusion entering his gaze. “And Luca…”

“Hey.” I smile at him and nudge Ty. “The proper greeting here is a hey, hi, hello-”

“Fuck off,” Ty says to me, and he side steps away from my nudge.

I shrug. “That could work too, I guess, but I don’t think Adão here would appreciate that so much.”

Adão laughs, but again shoots an awkward glance between Ty and I. Ty looks impressively uncomfortable and glances towards the locker rooms, like he wishes he could just high tail it out of here. Especially since other eyes from around the gym are landing on us.

I push past him, walking towards the locker room and waving at everyone, being the chivalrous gentleman I am as I take the attention off of the scandal of us arriving together.

Oh, if they only knew.

And I can’t help the little thrill I get knowing he is following me now.

The locker room is empty, and we silently go to our lockers to get ready. As I drop my sweatpants, standing before him in just my underwear while I pull my shorts on, I notice his eyes quickly fall to my ass before he looks away. And I do the same to him.

I bite my tongue, staying quiet and allowing us this space to just be, and look. But as he closes his locker door and turns to head into the gym, I dart before him, placing a hand on his chest to stop him.

He gives me that usual blank faced stare, like he’s already bothered by what I’m about to say before I even say it.

I hesitate briefly, not entirely sure why I even stopped him, before slapping a smile on. “Did you know that a tiger’s urine smells like buttered popcorn?”

His face twists in horror. “What?”

I shrug, unsure myself why I chose to share that right now. And why I even know that. “You’re a tiger, thought you’d like to know.”

“Uh… ok.” Ty shoves my hand off his chest, shooting me a weird look. “Let’s just go.”

“Mm-hm, yup.” I nod, following him out of the locker room.

As we head towards the mats, Max is standing there waiting for us.
