My eyes land on the moon, and I take in how bright it is.

The full moon.

Where light is born out of darkness.

I turn my head towards him, and he does the same.

As I look into his eyes, I feel comfortable and settled.

“Love you, fucker.”

He smiles, his eyes sparkling.

“Love you, asshole.”

FORTY-SEVEN

My eyes open to the smell of coffee, and an empty bed beside me.

It’s also still fucking pitch black outside. Why can’t he just sleep in for one fucking morning, ever.

With a sigh, I throw the covers back and get up, heading out to the kitchen in my boxers and magic socks.

Ty is standing in my kitchen, pouring coffee into two mugs. His dark hair is tousled from sleep, and the muscles of his bare torso flex perfectly with each movement he makes. After days of uncertainty and not knowing where he was… I take a moment to appreciate this sight. And let the comforting feeling wash over me.

But he’s awake at an ungodly hour, so enough of that.

“So fucking early,” I mutter as I make my way into the kitchen, and he passes me a mug.

“It’s not, actually.”

“It is.”

“You work today, right?” Ty asks and takes a sip of his boring black coffee.

“Yeah,” I say as I pour cream in mine.

“Then it’s not.”

“Oh fuck off, I still had like a half hour to sleep.” I roll my eyes at him. “Even after everything I’ve taught you, you’re still wound so tight.”

He scoffs and tilts his head to the mountain of cookies and muffins on my counter, with a cocked eyebrow.

“Oh,” I shake my head at him, “don’t fucking even. That was all you, fucker.”

A look of shame briefly enters his eyes, then he drops them quickly. “Yeah…”

I wince to myself, as I observe him. “I get it though,” I say, tilting my head to catch his eye again. “I would have done the same thing.”

Ty lifts his gaze to meet mine again. “I don’t think you would have.”

I nod. “I know I would be angry, pissed, scared, and who knows what else if that happened to me. Anyone would have.”

His eyes search mine for a moment before he nods softly.

I start to turn away from him to move to the couch, but he grabs my arm.

And as I look into his eyes, I see everything he wants to say, but can’t.
