“But how did you know I was here? Wait, I’m confused.” I look at him, and then I hear Isabel giggling nervously. I glance over at her and she shrugs.

“I’m sorry,” she says, “I told him you were going to be here.”

“But wait, what?”

“I got her number from Sam,” Colton says, grinning. “I texted her because I wanted to surprise you and I wanted to know where you were.”

“You told him we were going to be at this diner?” I asked her.

“Yeah. I don’t stand in the way of true love,” she says. She grabs Sarah. “Come on, let’s go.”

“But I wanted to witness this. This might be the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” Sarah says, and Isabel starts laughing.

“Don’t worry. You and I will have our moments one day too.” Isabel gives me a big smile and then turns to Colton. “I’ll see you both later.”

“Thanks, Isabel,” he says, squeezing her hand, and I can tell that he will always have a soft spot for her in his heart. He takes her seat, gives the guy who was serenading me some money, and then looks across at me. “Are you mad?” he asks, his eyes searching mine. As if I could ever be mad at him for more than a few seconds.

“No. I’m just really shocked.”

“I’m sure you are. I’ve never seen you this speechless before.”

“Very funny, Colton. I didn’t even know you were back in town.”

“I was just waiting for you to tell me that you missed me,” he says.

“But what if I never told you that I missed you? Would you still have come tonight?”

“Maybe, maybe not.” He laughs. “I just was hoping that perhaps you would miss me enough to text me and tell me that.”

“You know what, Colton Hart?” I ask, taking a deep breath.

“No. What?”

“I used to think that all I wanted for Christmas was not you.” I giggle. “But I was so wrong. I love you. You have my whole heart. You have my entire being, and I feel absolutely crazy for saying that because we’ve never been on an official date. But you’re just kind of great. You know that?”

“I was hoping you’d say that.” He leans forward and grabs my hands. “I was also hoping you’d say you’d be my girl.”

“But...”

“But nothing,” he says. “And I have a special present for you.”

“What’s the special present? Please don’t tell me that it’s your big cock in the bathroom.”

“No, but that could be arranged.” He chuckles, and I stare at the dimples in his cheeks. “No, I was thinking for our first official date, I take you to Paris.”

“Paris, France?”

“Yeah,” he says, his eyes light with mirth. “Does that sound good?”

“Yeah.” Which is an understatement. My heart is jumping for joy. I want to throw my arms around him and kiss him and tell him that a trip to Paris was the most romantic first date a girl could ever ask for.

“Great. So how’s about we go back to my place now, and then tomorrow we hop on a plane for France?”

“Tomorrow? But we have work and...”

“No, we don’t,” he says as he opens his briefcase and pulls out a stack of brochures. He hands them to me and I frown. Was this really the place for us to be discussing work?

I stare at the front and see one of my logos. “What is this?” I ask, my heart thudding in pride.
