“I don’t want to give Colton anything.”

“Oh my gosh. Why did I call you?”

“Because I’m your best friend and I’m the voice of reason.”

“So how do I get him to not come over?”

“At this point, just go and play the Monopoly, girl. Maybe you’ll have fun.”

“Maybe.” I sigh. “But if it sucks, I’m going to message you to come over, okay?”

“Okay,” she says. “I promise I’ll come over if you want me to.”

“Thanks, girl.”

“You’re welcome. Should I ask Sarah if she wants to come as well? Maybe we can play a four-player game.”

“Oh my gosh. He might like that too much,” I say, groaning.

“What?”

“Oh, you don’t want to know about the chocolate foursome.”

“The chocolate foursome? What the hell is that?”

“I’ll tell you later,” I say, chuckling. “You will not believe the night that I’ve had.” I stand in the bathroom and look at my reflection in the mirror. I don’t know where I’ve gone wrong in life to find myself in this situation, but something has obviously gone drastically wrong.

Zevo and I walk toward my apartment, and I can see a familiar figure standing outside on the street, waiting. I groan as we approach.

“Hey there,” Colton says as he looks at me and then he looks at Zevo. There’s a surprised expression on his face. I think he thought I was lying.

“I’ve been waiting for you,” he says,

“Like I told you, I was on a dinner date. This is Zevo.”

“You are going back up to your place, or Zevo is about to leave?” Colton says.

“We’re going up to my place.”

“Yo, we’re going to play some Monopoly. You want to play, man?” Zevo says, looking Colton up and down.

“Sure. Thanks.” Colton grins, and I glare at him.

“I mean, you guys don’t have to both come up and...”

“No, but sounds like a great time,” Colton says, staring at me. “Thank you so much for thinking of me.”

“No problems, man. I’m always down for an audience,” Zevo looks at Colton, and Colton raises an eyebrow.

“An audience?” I stare at him. What the hell is he going on about?

“Not for public sex or anything,” Zevo says, though the look on his face belies what he’s saying. “Though, Ella.” He looks me up and down as if I’m a delicious piece of cake and I try not to sniff in disgust. “I can’t lie. You’re so fly that if you want to hump me dry, I don’t care if we’re in front of a crowd because, yeah, I’m the sort of guy that can get down.”

I stare at him, and I can see Colton’s lips twitching. “Sorry, what did you just say?” Colton says to no one in particular. I can tell that he is finding the entire situation hilarious and all I can think is that he must think I’m desperate. What sort of woman brings an idiot like Zevo home?

“Oh, I’m a little bit of a rapper. Some people know me as the second Eminem.”

“The second Eminem?” Colton says, and I can definitely hear mirth in his voice.
