After we'd spoken to the police, Vance pulled me aside.
“I have great news. I just got off the phone with Larson and he was able to track the helicopter to that island.”
“Great! Let's head out there.”
He shook his head. “We can't. The island is a small one that you can only get onto by sky or water, and you know as well as I do that if we go out there in a helicopter, we're sitting ducks. So that leaves the only choice, by water and you know as well as I do it takes a special team to sneak in by water without being detected, so I've called in some help.”
Knowing the name he was about to utter was none other than the man who stole my Alyssa's heart right out from under me all those years ago, I only had one thing to say. “Please tell me you didn't call that piece of shit, Rigs, to help us rescue Lily?”
“Had to brother, look I know you would rather shoot him dead than look at him, but we need his help and you know it. His team is the only ones that can do what we need done. He's the best at what he does, and we have to think of Lily right now, she's our only concern. Besides, I think after you broke his nose after you found out about him and Alyssa, he's learned his lesson about moving in on your woman.”
“Our woman.” I corrected him.
“Yes, our woman.”
“If that fucker even attempts anything with her, I will kill him this time.”
“I'll help you burry the body if he does.” Vance assured me. My phone ringing cut our conversation. “Martinez here. Okay, see you in twenty.”
“Rigs and his men are loaded up and headed this way,” Vance said.
As nightfall began and we waited for Rigs' team, all the things that Gustavo could be doing to Lily right now wouldn't leave my head alone. Every horror that my mind could conjure up just played on a constant reel, making me want to go bat shit crazy right now. “I can't take this shit!” I blurted out.
“I'm right there with you man, I can't stop imagining the worst right now.”
“Maybe we can help you boys out then.” The gruff voice came from behind us.
“What the fuck!” We both shouted out as five men, covered head to toe with black gear, stepped forward out of the dark shadows.
“Let me guess, Rigs’ friends?” Vance questioned just as a black helicopter flew over and landed next to us.
“Yes, sir.”
Rigs, Brandon, and Derek all stepped off the helicopter and strode towards us.
As the helicopter took off, Rigs spoke up. “I see you met my brothers.”
“They just showed up.” I snapped at him, trying to contain the anger that stirred inside of me at the sight of his face again.
Chuckling he turned towards them. “This is team Black Tower. They are all former members of (swcc), better known as the quiet professionals, the best of the best that the Navy has to offer. They’re here to help us extract the hostage.”
“Lily.” I gritted out.
“Yes, Lily. So, are we going to be cool Richard's, or are we going to have to go a few more rounds over a woman who left us both first?”
Shocked that she left him, I began to feel like we're on a more level playing field. “Nah man, I'm good, just want to get our woman back.”
“Good. Now that we have that settled let's get down to it.” Turning around, he pointed to one of his men. “Derek, get these two some gear so we aren't spotted.”
“On it,” he said, jogging away.
Rig’s started to pull out some photos and blueprints. “So this is how it's going to go down. In about thirty more minutes the sun should be completely down so we can go into the hot zone under the cover of night. Once at the island, we will make our way up this path here on the South side the opposite side of the docks. After we're on the island, we'll eliminate any and all unfriendly then enter the premises through this window here on the grounds. According to the blueprints it empties into the servant’s quarters. And then we spread out in teams of two and take down every unfriendly inside we come across until we locate the hostage... Lily.” When he used her name, his eye connected with mine.
