“Jesus! Can I do nothing that makes you happy, Luca?! Forget it, just go get Lillian, so I can take her to get the money and then we can be done with this and get the hell out of here.”
“You are going to leave them behind alive to find, right?”
“Am I?” I smirked.
“Camilla?”
“When the hell did you grow a conscience? You do remember injecting the poison into her IV don’t...” Thinking for a moment, I started to wonder, if he ever really did? “You didn’t do it, did you?”
“Of course I did! You think I would risk getting caught over not doing anything but walking into her room and walking back out, knowing they were after us?!”
“Whatever, I don't have time for this. We’ll discuss this further later. Go get Lillian, and I'll take her to the bank while you stay here with my mother.”
“No.”
“No?”
“You must think I'm real stupid as to let you out of my sight with all that money.”
“Fine, you want some insurance? Here's the check I got from my trust. As you can see it's made out to cash so if I don't come back, then you can run away with that and live just fine.” I hand him the check, knowing I was taking a huge gamble that Luca would be here with my money when I got back.
Looking at me, he got a smirk on his face and I knew I had him in the palm of my hand. “You trust that I'm not going to just take off with this?”
“I do.”
“Fine, I'll go get her, but be quick so we can get the fuck out of this shit hole town.”
“I will.” As I watched him walk away, I silently said my goodbyes to Luca.
