Luckiest People

“Gentlemen,” Trent said when he saw the four Fierce men walk into his office. “Can I help you?”

“We are just waiting for Royce. He’s on the way. We are going to be walking through the space across from you and figuring out what can be done.”

Guess it was the day for visitors. Or visiting.

“It will be nice to have neighbors,” he said.

“You’ll have plenty,” Grant said. “We’ve got one of Royce’s good buddies coming in across the way in a few months. He’s a private investigator. You might need his services at some point. But I’m sure Roni will make sure that it’s added to the newsletter when the time is right.”

“She’s good at what she does,” Trent said.

“She is a gem,” Garrett said. “Best decision we had to hire her. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things for months. How Roni goes out of her way to introduce herself and make sure they know where she is and how to reach her. She makes herself available. She knows the tenants in the building. She is learning about all the businesses and the newsletter and community room were big hits. It helps promote more now when finding tenants.”

“All the things that would have sold me if I hadn’t already been willing to sign on.”

They were laying it on a little thick for him. Even if he knew what they were saying was true, it was still enough for him to get a good idea of what was going on in their minds.

If he wasn’t already intrigued by their employee on the first floor that he found himself glancing toward when he entered and left the building daily, then he might be running for a meeting to get away from this conversation.

“Those are the things we like to hear,” Grant said.

“Are you going to do the same things with the new building?” Drake asked. “Have Roni run it all?”

“New building?” Trent asked.

“I know I can trust you not to say much. It’s not finalized yet, but we are looking at other buildings. As for Roni, to start, I think yes, she’ll be covering both buildings. By the time this one is filled she’d have a good handle as she’s extremely efficient,” Garrett said.

“We can always get her help, but I think she has what it takes to oversee the property management part of it. An employee or two under her would ease the burden if need be,” Grant said.

Trent wasn’t going to say that Roni had told him she didn’t like being a manager of staff. It wasn’t his place.

“As long as we fill it up and it runs like this one is,” Ryder said, “that is all we care about. Right, Drake?”

“That’s because you aren’t doing much in terms of these buildings,” Drake said.

“Hey, I’ve got my hands full doing enough other things being the only architect in the firm.”

They all turned when Royce walked in the door. “Looks like there is a party going on in here. Problem? I thought we were meeting next door.”

“We are,” Grant said. “But you weren’t here yet and we thought it’d be nice to come see how Trent was settling into his new digs.”

“New digs?” Ryder asked. “You sound old saying that, Dad.”

Trent just grinned. He always found the interactions with the Fierces entertaining.

“I’m glad I got to catch you, Trent,” Royce said. “Elise is going to be reaching out soon. Chloe brought a bunch of your cards home that Raina handed her. Dad and I are lining up new builds. Elise commented on a lawyer for closings or something.”

“Great,” he said.

“I leave that to her. I’m juggling enough stuff,” Royce said.

Elise was Royce’s sister who ran the business end of Kennedy Construction. He knew their father, Richard Kennedy, owned half the company, Elise and Royce each a quarter.

“I’ll gladly speak with Elise,” Janine said. “We’ll get it figured out, as I know Trent has been crazy busy.”

“Crazy busy is an understatement,” Royce said. “Ryder, I need to talk to you too so this is saving me a call.”
