“It’s not the time to get into this,” Roni said. “And it’s none of your business who I date.”

“You always want to know who Jeff is dating,” Jenna said.

“Be quiet,” she said to Jenna. “This doesn’t concern you.” She wasn’t sure where she had the nerve to say that but was glad she did when Jenna sat back down. The woman wasn’t her child’s mother and she was starting to realize some of what was going on had to do with the younger girlfriend.

“Aren’t you going to do something about this, Jeff?” Jenna asked.

“Sit down, Jenna. Trent, you can do the same. We’ve got this as Eli’s parents,” Jeff said.

Trent stood there with his arms crossed and wasn’t moving. “I’ll stand if it’s just the same for you.”

“It’s not,” Jeff said. “But suit yourself.” Jeff turned to her. “If you want to go back to court that is fine. I’ve got more than enough stuff with you keeping this a secret from me. And letting our son do dangerous tricks on his bike. I’m sure that is just as equal to the fact he took his helmet off when I told him not to.”

“That’s not true,” Eli said.

“Eli is old enough to speak for himself in court,” Trent said. “And you know as well as I do that there isn’t a reason to take Roni back to court for anything other than causing problems. But go ahead if you want. She’s not going to be pushed around again.”

“Because she’s got a boyfriend?” Jeff said. “This doesn’t concern you. It’s between us and if you don’t back off then I’ll make sure something is drawn up about the men in her life too.”

Trent started to laugh and the last thing she needed was this or thought it would happen.

She knew Trent was trying to help but should have figured it was going to cause issues.

“Trent,” she said. “It’s not the time. Let it go. We just need to make sure Eli is fine.”

A nurse came out at that point, calling Eli’s name and she and Jeff went in. As much as Roni wanted Trent with her, she knew it was best he didn’t go in. She’d deal with him later because right now she wasn’t sure what man she was more worked up about.

Coming To The Rescue

“You do know that Roni is always causing problems with Jeff, right?”

Trent had been sitting in the waiting room for an hour with Jenna and neither of them had said a word.

The last thing he expected was that she’d start with this. “I don’t believe you’ve got your facts straight.”

“She’ll tell you anything,” Jenna said. “Jeff has told me that before. It’s all drama with her. She is always going back to court. Since I’ve been with Jeff she hasn’t tried anything. Maybe she realizes now that Jeff has no interest in her. I mean she is dating you.”

He looked up from his phone. “Again, you’re misinformed, but that is your problem.”

“You can’t believe everything she says to you,” Jenna said.

“Jeff told you that, right?” he asked.

“Of course. He tells me everything,” Jenna said.

“Good for your relationship if you want to believe it.”

No way he was saying much more. He didn’t want to let on how long he’d been dating Roni. It wasn’t the time and this woman had clear issues with Roni for no reason.

Another thirty minutes went by and he got a call from a number he didn’t recognize. “Hello.”

“Hey, Trent. It’s Jax. Roni texted me and our parents, but she isn’t answering so I’m not sure what is going on. Do you know?”

“Hi, Jax. No. I know they took him in for an x-ray about forty minutes ago. They are checking for a concussion too.”

Which just burned his ass right now. He was looking things up on his phone from a legal standpoint for Roni too.
