Stars exploded behind my eyes as my body quaked and bloomed all at the same time. He pulled me close and rolled, cradling me as he took his weight in his arms.

“That’s my mortal,” He murmured, lowering his head to whisper against my ear. “Come for me.”

One slow thrust and I bucked again. He set the pace, only pushing in as far as I could take him, then eased out before thrusting in again. I clung to him, rocking my hips with the motion, unable to get enough. Not of him.

He watched my every reaction, timing each thrust until that wave of hunger came again, making me claw his shoulders. “Harder,” I whispered. “Harder, Dregon.”

Deeper.

He drove inside until I panted and moaned, inching higher and higher until I thought I was coming apart.

“Violet,” He moaned my name.

My body quaked, releasing as he dropped his head and with a guttural moan he came, filling me with warmth until my body couldn’t hold anymore. That heat spilled out as he moved, dribbling along my crease.

He lifted his head, his words punctured by consuming breaths. “Are you…are you okay?”

I could only smile. “Yeah, more than okay.”

He nodded. “Good.”

His wings swelled around me, covering me as he eased his body to the ground and pulled me close.

My eyes closed on their own as exhaustion swept through me.

With the sound of the rain still pelting down outside, I curled my body around his and snuggled into the crook of his arm. I was safe here, safe and happy. I didn’t think I’d ever been so happy.

My lips curled as my breaths deepened and I sank faster than a falling stone.

This might’ve been a dream and if it was, then I didn’t want to wake. I wanted to stay here in this cavern in the middle of nowhere with a man who was the most beautiful creature I’d ever seen. That thought stayed with me as I drifted, falling into the darkness…and slept.

Violet

The chirping of birds woke me. With a breath, I opened my eyes after the faint sound drew me from slumber. The murky darkness of the cavern was all around me. For a second I drifted in that dreamlike state, clinging tight to the fantasy which consumed me. A fantasy of a cavern and a beast so beautiful he made my soul weep.

Dregon.

That was his name.

My dream creature.

I closed my eyes once more, not wanting to lose him just yet. “Not just yet,” I whispered.

“Are you still tired?” The husky tone made me stiffen, then slowly open my eyes.

A shadow fell, smothering out the muted sunlight. His wings were over his face, still those endless black eyes peeked between the gaps at me.

I shoved upward, my heart hammering as I stared up at him. “You…you’re real?”

His smile was fast. “Yes, female. I’m very much real.”

I shoved up from the stony cavern floor and lunged, slamming into him like a linebacker. He took the impact with a grunt, then a chuckle, before grabbing him. I wound my arms around his waist and buried my head, inhaling his scent deep into my lungs. “I thought you were a dream.”

He stilled, then tilted my face to his. “You did?”

His surprise made me smile. “Yeah, I did. I thought this was all just a fantasy.”
