I open my mouth and shut it again just as quickly. Dammit, I want to correct him. I want to hear my real name on those lips.

Because what started out as a game has become anything but. I’ve never had this kind of connection with anyone in my entire life. It makes me wonder what else might be possible if we already click on this level. If this is the first day, what could the first year be like?

But something keeps me from telling him that I’m Sophie, not Sara.

Fear, probably.

Because Sara has been fun. She’s uncomplicated by the things that usually weigh Sophie down. She doesn’t have to worry about any of the complex realities of life. And as soon as this man knows my real name, everything becomes real.

And that invites mess. Heartache.

I’m not ready for any of those things.

Still, I can’t help but be a little curious about the man beside me. The man who somehow seems to know me intimately, even if he’s missing one key detail about me.

“So, are you originally from San Francisco?” I ask, trying to feel him out a little.

He shakes his head. “No. I’m here on business. Leaving tomorrow.”

He doesn’t volunteer where he’s going next, and I don’t ask.

“I’m just visiting too,” I say as he traces patterns on my skin, following the slope of my waist down to my hip. “This trip is meant to be a vacation, since I needed a bit of a break and haven’t been back to San Fran since my undergrad. Although I can’t say that I’ve ever had a vacation quite like this before.”

“One to remember,” he says, pressing a kiss to my shoulder.

He tucks my hair behind my ear again before resuming his patterns. I try to focus on the movement of his fingertips, wondering what he might be writing into my skin.

Maybe he’s trying to tell me who he really is.

I ramble to fill the silence, even as his touch gives me goosebumps. “I mean, I had no idea my friend was going to take me to a sex club. That’s definitely something I don’t do. And, um, I don’t do this either. Hook up with strangers in a bar.”

He doesn’t have anything to say to that, and the truth hits me like this man’s car almost did.

He does do this. Plenty, judging by his expertise. And it would be easy to do this as much as he wants, no strings attached, if he travels often for work.

I figured out that he was very experienced from pretty much the first moment he touched me, and it didn’t really bother me then.

It doesn’t bother me now either, I decide.

Because I’m just Sara.

And he’s just Dominic.

And we’re here for just one thing, and nothing else.

To feel good.

To lose ourselves a little.

To fuck.

I don’t need anything more than that, especially not tonight. Especially when I have such big plans for myself in the future. Anything else would get complicated, and I can’t distract myself from what I want out of my future career. My future life.

This is just one hot night—the hottest and sexiest night of my life—before getting everything back on track.

And I’m damn well going to enjoy every second of it before it’s over.

I smile at Dominic before throwing my leg over his hips and rolling us over so that he’s on his back with me straddling him. His hands brace me and squeeze my ass, and I rock my hips against him, rubbing my pussy along the length of his cock.
