“Amberlea’s in the women’s church discussing some stuff they’re planning, so we’ve taken her to ours. Just get here, brother, before one of us kills her,” Drake hissed.

I heard a startled cry and recognised Tinsley’s tones. Fuck me. My woman and Satan’s daughter were in the same building.

I need to get Tinsley’s skanky ass out of Rage before she crosses paths with Amberlea. As I raced towards Rage, I cursed the fact I’d not been honest when I’d had the chance. If Amberlea had known, she wouldn’t be blindsided like she was going to be. And if, by some small miracle, I manage to get Tinsley away from Rage without Amberlea seeing her, I would tell her everything.

I prayed Gran wasn’t about. She’d been talking about making a chilli. Gran would occasionally turn up and cook to give the girls in the kitchen a break. Once or twice a week, the old ladies got together to cook, but for the rest of the time, we hired people. The old ladies with their jobs and everything else had been burning out, and Drake had recognised this.

I didn’t know what made me more afraid, Gran facing Tinsley or Amberlea. Either would be a shitstorm. I sped into the forecourt, parked, and rushed through the gate that Harley had barely got open. Flat-out running, I rushed into the clubhouse and met Rock. He tilted his head towards the stairs, and I leapt down them.

As I burst into church, the first thing I saw was all the inner circle. It was Sunday, so most of us weren’t working, but we’d gathered together like we did most weekends. I’d been sent on a quick run for Drake, which is why I’d left the compound. Drake was standing at the long table, which the inner circle used during meetings, with the remaining men facing them in seats. Around him stood my brothers and sat in a seat. Relaxed and looking bored was Tinsley.

Somehow, the years in jail and her own mistakes did not show on her face. She was still beautiful. And cold. Her eyes met mine, and they were dead. Whatever this shit was, it was all about her. A smile formed on Tinsley’s lips as she rose to her feet and held her arms out. She smirked when I didn’t hug her.

“Whatever the fuck you want, you ain’t getting it. So, walk bitch,” I growled, stamping towards her.

Tinsley didn’t even flinch as she resumed her seat and crossed her legs, flicking her hair.

“Now, Lucifer, that’s not a way to greet family,” Tinsley stated, looking around to see if anyone was giving her attention. A moue of disappointment crossed her face when she saw no one paid her the slightest bit of interest.

“What the fuck do you want?” I demanded.

My skin crawled as Tinsley’s gaze swept my body up and down, and an expression of approval crept onto her face.

“You grew into your promise, Lucifer,” she stated. To my disbelief, Tinsley smiled with what she thought was a sultry expression.

“This is the last time I ask before I put you out on your ass.”

“I assumed we could catch up,” Tinsley suggested, cocking her head.

“Catch up?” I repeated dumbly.

“Yes, it’s been years,” Tinsley whispered, taking two steps toward me.

“Is she for fuckin’ real?” I asked Drake in disbelief.

“You said she was a cunt, not that she was dumb,” Drake replied.

“Excuse me?” Tinsley asked, insulted.

“Okay, we’re done,” I growled, moving and grasping Tinsley by her arm. I started dragging her to the door as she fought against me.

“Lucifer, you’re hurting me!” she shouted, and on instinct, I let her go. It was against every fibre of my body to harm a lady, but this thing in front of me was no woman. I moved to grab her again, but Tinsley slapped my hand away.

“Don’t you touch me!” Tinsley hissed. “Wonder what Agatha and your new bitch would say?” And there it was. Part of it. Tinsley knew about Amberlea.

“How much you want?” I demanded, and Tinsley looked coy.

“Who said anything about money?”

The control of my temper snapped a little, and I grabbed her and slung her against the wall.

“Don’t fuckin’ play with me. I’m not the man you knew. Now tell me how much, and I’ll decide whether to pay it or let my brothers put you in an unmarked grave,” I growled.

Fear flitted through Tinsley’s eyes, but the dumb skank was too stupid to heed my warning. It was replaced with a coy gaze, and her hands came up to touch my chest. Nausea rushed through me, and I swallowed hard, and Tinsley took it wrong.

“That spark is still there, Luc,” she whispered, leaning forward and licking her lips.

I slammed her against the wall and moved away like a bat out of hell. Gunner took my place, and Tinsley didn’t look so confident.
