“My god, she’s an older version of Eddie,” Gauntlet muttered.

For a brief moment, I wondered who Eddie was, but then Faelea repeated her question.

“Yeah,” I said with an obvious squirm.

Gauntlet sent me a cool look and then beckoned Faelea closer.

“This your first time seeing them?” he asked softly.

“Kinda. I’ve seen photos of them when they were younger, so I knew who to look out for, but this is the first time I’ve seen them for real,” Faelea replied.

“And how do you feel?” Gauntlet quizzed as I shot him a surprised glance. “If this is upsetting you, I can turn it off.”

“No, I’m not upset. I know what they did to Mom, and honestly, I think they’re both assholes,” Faelea said bluntly.

Shocked, I gasped at Faelea’s language, but Gauntlet chuckled.

“Faelea!” I exclaimed.

“They’d grown up knowing Mom,” she continued blithely. “So, they should have realised Mom wasn’t the driver. Who takes someone’s word without checking facts, especially when you’ve known them for so long? They were idiots, and I’ve no time for fools.”

Gauntlet’s jaw dropped as even I gazed at Faelea, astounded.

“Kid’s how old?” Gauntlet asked.

“Ten,” I said, bemused. “Faelea reminds me of her cousin at that age.” I let out a small laugh.

“Shh, let’s listen,” Faelea hushed, and I heard Gauntlet chuckle.

I moved closer, trying to ignore the handsome guy beside me, and watched as Gauntlet turned the sound up.

“That’s Detective Ramirez. He’s a friend to Rage,” Gauntlet said, pointing to the man in the suit. “The two uniforms are Buckers and Flight. They’re new, so don’t know about them.”

“Will they find us here?”

“No, Ramirez is close to the club, but we didn’t tell him about the panic room. And if we did, Ramirez wouldn’t out us without knowing the full truth. Guy knows we wouldn’t harbour someone criminal,” Gauntlet said and then winked and shushed me, too.

My mouth opened to blast him, but I caught sight of Drake, Ace, and two others walking towards the gate. Drake nodded to a prospect to open the gates, and those outside stepped inside.

“Ramirez, what can we do for you?” Drake called as he approached.

“One of your brothers put a lady on his bike. I’d like to speak to her if possible,” Ramirez said.

“Got plenty of ladies here. Which old lady do you want? Most are at work,” Drake responded.

“This isn’t an old lady. She is a recently released convict,” Ramirez replied.

I watched as Drake cocked his head.

“No one here who fits that description, although I think half our women might.” Drake chuckled.

“Look, you don’t know me. But Amberlea? She’s dangerous. Amberlea killed her best friend and kidnapped our baby. If we can find her, I can get my daughter at last. It’s been ten years,” Jax announced, stepping forward.

Anger surged, and I bristled at his words.

“Sorry to hear that, man. But ain’t got a clue who you mean. None of my brother’s old ladies fit that description. And nobody gets on the back of Rage wheels unless they’ve been claimed by a brother,” Drake replied with a glance at Ramirez. Whatever message Drake sent, Ramirez received. Gauntlet seemed to stiffen and then relaxed as I eyed him curiously.

“Look, my friend and I saw Amberlea get on a bike. The guy was from Rage MC. He might hide her. He likely has no idea how dangerous she is,” Jax said.
