She shifted in my lap. Framing my face, she studied me in a way that made my heart soar before she kissed me. It was just a touch of her lips to mine, but with her rounded ass on my cock, it predictably lengthened.

“Sorry.” I apologized as she leaned back, knowing there was no way she missed my response. “Just a whiff of your fragrance makes me hard.”

“My response might not be as obvious.” She blushed. “But it only takes a glimpse of your desire to make me wet. I’ve had a crush on you since Ally first showed me a photo.”

“Really?” My lips curved when she nodded. I liked that, and I wanted to be inside her again. “Are you ready to go back upstairs?”

“Not yet.” Lowering her hands to my bare chest, she searched my eyes. “You haven’t told me much about your family.”

“I told you enough.” I tensed. “My home life wasn’t anything like yours.”

“Not even with your mother?” she asked.

“She was a lot like your father.” Some of my tension loosened. “She was warm and affectionate. She did the best she could to make up for the way my father was.”

“You get your gentleness from her.”

“I’m not gentle.” I shook my head.

“You are with me,” she said.

“I never thought about it.” My brows drew together. “But I think you’re right. I guess I never felt comfortable being gentle with anyone else until I met you.”

“I wonder if your dad realized his mistake and changed after losing you.”

“I doubt it.” I pressed my lips into a thin line.

“You never talked to him again?” she asked.

“I said harsh things to him at my mother’s funeral.” My jaw tightened. “I told him I was going to live my life how I saw fit. That I would be a better man apart from him.”

“What did he say?” She tilted her head.

“He didn’t say anything.” I shrugged. “Maybe he agreed with me.”

And wasn’t that sad. I swallowed hard. I didn’t want to admit that I thought about him, but Electra was so brave putting her feelings out there, so I manned up and told her.

“I wonder sometimes how he is, what he’s doing. If he has regrets.”

I’d thought about that a lot more since being with Electra. Probably because she had lost her father, not by choice the way I did mine. Partly because having her, I had the type of love I had always wanted and been missing. She loved me for me. Had my old man ever had or even wanted love like that?

“He has to be proud of who you’ve become,” she said firmly.

“Maybe.” But probably not. He would only be proud of what I had achieved. “I like the man I am with you. I love how we are together.”

“Our pieces fit.” She nodded. “Mine being more fragmented than yours. But I don’t feel so broken with you.”

I didn’t either. “I’m glad, baby. Do you ever ...” I hesitated, watching her closely.

“Ever what?”

“Do you ever think about the accident?”

“I don’t really remember it. Just seeing the flash of lights coming into my lane and swerving.”

“You were driving?” I asked.

“Yes.” She started to drop her chin.
