He just nodded and d then looked to the ground. "So, am I gonna get an explanation for what just happened?" I opened my mouth, then closed it. I looked over my shoulder at Issac. Issac made his way over.
"I'll call Linus later and talk to him, and then he'll let you know," Issac smiled, patting Nathan's shoulder. "Thanks for your help," Issac grinned, then turned to me. "Leave your car here. We'll come to get it in the morning."
Nathan gave Issac a side-eye. "Why does Linus have to tell me? Why can't you?" Nathan asked.
Issac looked over his shoulder at him. "Because I'd rather talk to him. No hard feelings, bud."
"Issac," Nathan said. "I can't help you if I don't know what's going on," He explained.
Issac opened the passenger door of his truck for me. "Don't need your help. Just need you to stay out of my way. " Nathan looked at me with concerned eyes.
"Delilah," Nathan said. I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head. I should never have gotten him involved. Fuck.
"Thanks again, Nate," I smiled, shutting the truck door. Issac helped Doll get in, then got in himself. We pulled away and began heading to the clubhouse. Looking behind us, Nathan was watching us pull away. I sighed, then looked over at Issac.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get him involved. I… I just, that's all I could think of to get rid of them," I explained to Issac.
"I'll handle it," Issac said, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand, the other on the wheel. "He could be useful," Issac added. I nodded, then leaned my head against the window, closing my eyes.
"Hey, we're home," Issac whispered, waking me up from my truck nap. I opened my eyes to him, brushing my cheek with his palm.
Helping me out of the truck, Doll, he, and I made our way into the clubhouse. When we entered, all the guys were spread out talking. Some of them had drinks in their hand. As Issac walked in, they all nodded to him. Issac nodded back. Doll headed behind the bar, immediately pouring herself a glass of whiskey.
"I gotta go make that call," Issac said, squeezing my hand.
"Okay," I smiled. He leaned down, giving me a quick kiss. He broke away from me and headed out to the garage to his office. I sighed and looked around for Jay, not able to find him.
"He's out back smokin a joint," General said, looking at me with a small smile.
"Thank you," I said, nodding. I made my way through the bar and towards the back door. It was cracked open already.
I lightly pushed it open, poking my head through the gap and looking for Jay. He was sitting on the ground, leaning against the wall with a joint hanging from the corner of his mouth.
"Hey," I said, walking over to join him on the ground.
"Shit, hey," he said, startled, beginning to stand.
"You're fine," I said, waving my hand as I plopped myself down next to him. He leaned back into his original position. I leaned my head against the wall, taking a deep breath.
"Need a hit?" He asked, passing me the joint. I smiled, grabbing it and inhaling deeply. I began coughing and wheezing, handing it back to him.
"Jesus, I'm still not used to this," I laughed with tears filling my eyes from the coughing. Jay began laughing while taking the joint.
"You will be," he said, still laughing.
We sat quietly, passing the joint back and forth for a few minutes.
"I'm so fucking relieved you and Doll are okay," he said, breaking the silence.
"Me too," I said, pausing. "I'm sorry about Devin," I said as tears pooled in my eyes. This time is caused by guilt and sadness.
"Hey," Jay said, glancing over at me. "Come here," he said, pulling me into him. I pulled my legs up to my chest, then leaned my head against his shoulder.
Tears continued to fall from my eyes. I wiped them away, sniffling. I felt a hand on my chin. Jay pulled my face to his. My heart pounded hard and fast. He leaned down quickly, his lips crashing into mine. His hand moved to the side of my face as he deepened the kiss.
I gasped, breaking the kiss to stare at Jay. His hand was still on my face. He sighed and leaned his forehead against mine.
