"Mom?" I said again, walking through. "Mom? You in here?" I asked while knocking on the bathroom door. I still wasn't getting any answers. My heart dropped. I slowly turned the door handle, pushing the door open. As it swung open, my mom came into view. She was lying on the floor on her side, facing away from me. "Mom?!" I yelled, running over to her. I rolled her onto her back. She was cold and pale, and her eyes were closed. "Hey!" I said, shaking her. I frantically felt for a pulse. It was faint, but it was there.

I grabbed my phone and dialed 911. I looked around the bathroom and noticed some things were knocked over. I looked back at my mom and saw a bottle of medication spilled beside her. She also had vomit on her shirt.

"Hello? What's the address of your emergency?" I voice said, bringing me back. Panic set in.

"M-My mom's, I-I need help, please!" I began yelling into the phone.

"Okay, okay, calm down. I need you to tell me where you are, ma'am," the operator said. My mind's pace began picking up, and I couldn't slow down to find my address.

"I'm at home! I-I don't know what's happening! She's on the bathroom floor. S-she barely has a pulse, and she's cold! She's so cold!" I screeched, beginning to cry.

"Okay, ma'am, I pinged your phone's location and sent EMS. They should be there soon. Stay on the line with me, please. Stay calm, take some deep breaths, and sit down if you can."

"Okay, okay," I said. I was slowly leaning against the bathtub, staring at my mom.

"What's your name?" I heard the operator ask. "Ma'am, what's your name?"

"Uh, it's Delilah," I answered, bringing my knees to my chest. Time lingered.

"Delilah, what's your mom's name?"

"Leeanne. It's Leeanne,"

"Thank you, hun. Alright, Delilah? EMS is about two minutes out. You still there?"

"Yeah," I whispered, unable to take my eyes off my mom.

"Talk to me, Delilah."

"I'm here, I'm here," I whispered again. I felt the tears slowly roll down my cheeks.

"Okay, Delilah? Where are you at your house? Are you still in the bathroom?"

"Yes,"

"Okay, EMS is pulling into your driveway now," the operator assured me. I heard pounding on the front door. I listened to the squeak of its opening and a stampede of footsteps coming toward me. I felt my heartbeat slow, and everything began to move slowly.

"In here!" A figure in the doorway yelled. A pair of feet moved past me. I watched as they kneeled next to my mom.

"Get the stretcher in here now!"

I stood up. "What's wrong?" I asked, my voice echoing in my head. The man kneeling next to her, attaching cords and wires to her, turned towards me.

"I'm not sure yet," he said, turning back to her. More footsteps approached, along with loud voices. More people came into the bathroom. Everything became muffled. I watched as she became surrounded, everyone around her doing something. Suddenly, her body convulsed.

"Hey! She's seizing! Turn her over!" Everyone's pacing quickened, and they scattered, doing different things.

"What's happening?!" I shouted, and I got closer. Then I felt arms wrap around my waist, pulling me back. I started hitting their hands, trying to get them to let me go.

"Fuck off!" I screamed, wiggling in their grip.

Pulling me out of the bathroom, I was dragged into the living room.

"Delilah, stop!" A voice said, spinning me to look at them. Hands rested on both sides of my face. "Look at me!" they shouted, making my eyes adjust. "Look at me!" Ryan said again.

"I-I am"

"I need you to stay calm, please. We are trying to move quickly, okay?" He said, wiping tears from my cheek. I looked down at his EMS vest and then back to his face.
