Chapter Twenty-Seven

Issac

My head is buried in paperwork when I hear a knock on my office door.

“Yeah?” I saw, not even looking up from my desk. I hear the door open.

“Hi Issac,” I hear Dr. Lee say as she comes through the door. I look up and sigh, then return to my paperwork.

“Did Doll call you?” I ask. She closes the door behind her, then walks over and takes a seat in front of my desk.

“I won’t lie to you, but yes, she did. They’re worried,” she explains.

“They’re?” I asked, looking up at her.

“It wasn’t just Doll. Jay also called me. Nathan too,”

“Of course they did,” I say, leaning back in my chair, throwing the pen on my desk.

“Nathan told me what happened.” She says, clearing her throat.

“She hates me,” I say.

“No, no, I don’t think she does. She’s feeling a lot right now.” She explains.

“I know,”

“She just needs time. Time to wrap her head around everything, and so do you.”

I don’t say anything, I just nod.

“But I wanted to talk to you about you. I want to know what is going on inside that head of yours.”

Great.

“I’m fine,”

“No, you’re not,” she replies fast. “I can see it in your eyes Issac, you’ve barely slept. You look drained. What’s eating away at you other than Isaiah starting shit between you and Delilah?”

I run my hands through my hair and leaned forward. I rest my elbows on my desk and plant my face in my hands.

“Fuck” I draw out.

“Come on Issac, talk to me.” She pushes.

“Is this why Ed always stayed late at the clubhouse?” I ask, pulling my hands away from my face so I can see her reaction. Her husband Ed joined the club when my father became Pres, but he unfortunately passed from cancer before I could meet him.

Her eyebrows shoot up and she smiles. “You did your research,” she says, leaning back in the chair, crossing her legs.

“I did. You looked familiar, like I’d seen you somewhere. So, I went digging through some pictures and bam. Edward and Sarah Lee,”

“Well done,” she smiles. “I didn’t think anyone would recognize me. Especially you.”

“The only original left is General, and he’s been doing club shit for me.” I explain. She nods and then takes a deep breath.

“Let’s get back to you. We’ll talk about Eddie another time,” she smiles. “You’re having nightmares, aren’t you?”

I nod. “I live that whole night over and over again. Her screams, her begs. I can hear her clawing at the coffin, trying to scratch her way out.”
