“Hey you,” Jay says, standing next to Issac with a smile.

“Holy shit,” I say before running over to him, jumping into his arms. He wraps his arm around me and picks me up, giving me a tight squeeze.

“I thought I’d never see you again,” I whispered into his neck. He sets me down and steps back. He grabs my chin and tilts my head up so that I’m looking at him.

“When Issac told me about you, I thought the same. But look at us, we’re here, together, and alive,” he says as he wipes away tears from my cheeks that I didn’t know had fallen.

I feel arms wrap around my waist and pull me from Jay’s grip.

“I don’t know about y’all, but I’m fucking starving, so let’s go get some dinner,” Issac says as he throws me over his shoulder and starts walking out of the clubhouse towards his truck. Everyone starts laughing and follows behind.

Finally, I feel somewhat complete again.

Or so I thought.

Chapter Twenty-One

Issac

Every night this week, Delilah has woken me up screaming. Once she wakes and realizes it’s me, she’ll grab onto me and beg for me to never let her go. My heart is breaking for her and I don’t know what to do, other than hire someone to talk to her and try to help her work through whatever is happening in that head of hers.

“Hey” I hear her hoarse voice say as she walks through my office door.

“Hey beautiful. What’s up?” I say, scooting back from my desk. She stands in the doorway and fiddles with the sleeve of my hoodie that she’s wearing.

“Doll said you wanted to talk?” she says without looking up at me.

“I do, come over here,” I say, patting my lap. She slowly comes over to me and stands in front of me, still refusing to look at me. Not gonna happen. I grab her hands and yank her down onto my lap.

“Look at me,” I say, grabbing her chin pulling her face towards mine. She finally makes eye contact and my heart drops. Those beautiful eyes of hers show nothing but sadness. “What’s happening in that pretty head of yours?” I ask. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes.

“A lot” is all she says. I nod and let go of her chin.

“Do you wanna talk about it?” I ask. She shakes her head. I sigh and nod again. “Can I ask you something?”

She opens her eyes and looks into mine. Tears slowly rolled down her cheeks. She nods.

“Why won’t you talk to me about what’s going on in there?” I ask.

“Because I don’t want you to think differently of me,” she replies quickly.

“Babe, I would never think differently of you. God, I fucking love you. I’m obsessed with you. Don’t forget that. You can talk to me.”

“I don’t know if I’m ready to talk to you about some things that happened, though,” she whispers. I nod, understanding.

“Will you talk to someone? I’ll find someone to come here and talk so that way you don’t have to go anywhere you don’t want to.”

She takes a second to think, so I speak again.

“Fuck, I may even talk to them,”

That grabs her attention.

“Really?” she asks, surprised.

“Yes, really,”

“Maybe we can talk to them together, eventually? If that’s okay?” she asks. I feel my body light up with joy.
