“Doll?” I ask, trying to read her face.

“Get under the bar. Now,” she said, rushing over. Without asking questions, I immediately hit the floor and crawled under the bar and pushed myself in between the ice machine and glass shelf. Doll squats down in front of me.

“I need you to stay calm. Isaiah is about the burst through that door,” she says calmly. My heart races and I take a deep breath and nod. “Don’t come out until I tell you to,”

The alarm to the garage office goes off and she shoots up and stands at the bar and starts cleaning again. I hear her take a deep breath as the door to the bar area opens.

“Isaiah, long time no see,” she says. I hear not one, not two, but multiple footsteps approach.

Chapter Twenty

Delilah

“She isn’t here,” she whispers. Isaiah sucks in his cheeks and takes a deep breath. He lets go of Doll and takes a step back, turning around. He sighs and shakes his head.

“You couldn’t just make this easy, could you?” he says. He whips around, swinging his hand with the gun in it, into Doll’s head, sending her to the floor.

“Agh!” she screams as she hits the floor. I cover my mouth with both hands to hold in my scream.

“Del, Del, you have to calm down, even out your breathing,” Iris whispers. I come to opening my eyes. My body is covered in sweat and I’m breathing hard. I look at the end of my bed and see the detectives.

“Delilah, I know this is hard,” Walker begins. “But we want to get all the details while they’re still fresh in your mind,”

“I know,” I sigh, wiping the tears from my cheeks. I clear my throat and look at Iris. She smiles and squeezes my hand. “He came in demanding her to tell him where I was. She kept telling him she didn’t know.”

“And what did he have to say about that?”

“It just angered him more. He knew she was bullshitting him. So then he hit her. I can’t remember with what but it sent her to the ground bleeding,” I answer, hearing the sound of whatever Isaiah hit dolls skull with echoing in my ears.

“And then what happened?”

“I jumped out and tried to stop him, but he fought me. I think I stabbed him, or sliced him maybe? I can’t remember. I just know I hurt him, “I answer. They stare at me and wait for me to continue. “He had his men tie me up and gag me,” I say, remembering their hands on me. “Then he made me sit there and watch while he shot Doll.”

“And what happened after that?” Asher asks, continuing to write on his notepad, flipping to a new sheet.

“I blacked out or something because I remember waking up somewhere. It was like a dungeon. Rusted cells everywhere, chains lining the walls, one they shackled me to,” I describe the hell hole I was trapped in.

“Okay. While you we’re there, what did they do to you?” Walker asks. “You can take your time explaining. We’re in no hurry,” he tries to reinsure me.

This is the part I want to skip over, but I know I can’t. I explain to them how Levi and Isaiah both tortured Issac and I. Making Issac watch as they assaulted me, and then making Issac bury me alive.

Then they ask Iris questions about how she knew where we were and how she and Nathan came up with a rescue plan.

Finally, after a few hours or reliving my nightmare, the detectives say they have enough information and leave.

“I’ll be back, I’m gonna go grab Issac” Iris says as she stands up from the bed. I nod and give her a smile. Once I hear the door close, the tears I was holding back let go.

Two Weeks Later

I’m finally home and everything is starting to really set in now. I have nightmares every night and jump at every loud noise I hear. Being in closed spaces such as a car really sucks now. I had to cut my hair up to my shoulders because it was so knotted from lying in bed for weeks. I had a panic attack on the way home from the hospital, Issac had to pull over and let me out so I could empty my stomach and calm down.

Issac, Nathan, and I are going to see Isaiah in a week. I still don’t know how I feel about it.

“There my girl is,” I hear that all too familiar voice say. I look over and see Doll limping towards me with a cane. Instant tears fall down my cheeks. I also hobble over to her and wrap my arms around her. We both squeeze each other and don’t let go for a while.

“I thought I watched you die,” I say, holding her tighter. She sniffles and clears her throat. She runs her hands through my now shoulder length hair.

“You can’t get rid of me that easily,” she says. We both laugh and hold on to each other for a bit longer. I hear someone clear their throat from behind me. I let go of Doll and turn to see who it came from.
