Not wanting to answer him, I spun and called out for Crew.

He came running into the kitchen as Daemon was still staring at me.

Feeling irritated, I looked at him, “What?”

At my tone, he stopped taking things out of the bag, and then he lowered his voice, “Please tell me what had you frozen? If I did something you didn’t like, I need to know so I don’t do it again.”

I shook my head; I so didn’t want to think about that. But I could tell that if I didn’t tell him, he wouldn’t like that. So, I told him the truth, but half of it. “No one’s ever put their hand on my hip like that. It was nice.”

Then he nodded, “So, is that permission to do that again?”

And something inside of me, something deep down, needed something. After everything that had taken place since I met him, and even more so after what all had taken place today, I said, “You can do that again, but before you do it, I expect a kiss on my forehead.”

He looked at me, and then I watched as a slow smile formed on his face, and then he leaned down, and carefully placed a kiss on my forehead.

And did I like that his lips lingered there for a moment longer than they should have? I really did.

Crew was bouncing on his feet and knowing I needed to give him something to do, I asked, “Honey, he’s our guest. What are you supposed to ask him?”

Crew looked at me, confusion clearly written all over his face, then his eyes widened and he nodded, “Right. Daemon? What would you like to have to drink?”

I could tell he wanted to chuckle, but he didn’t. However, I did see merriment dancing in his eyes. “What are my options?”

Crew walked to the fridge, opened it, and then said, “We have chocolate milk. Regular milk. Water. Orange juice. Juice boxes. Soda.”

He seemed to be deep in thought, then he asked, “What are you having?”

He grinned, “Soda. Mommy lets me have two of them a week. One is with pizza, and the other is with Chinese.”

I smiled when Daemon nodded, “Then I may as well do it like you are. Sounds like a good idea. I’ll take a soda.”

Chapter 6

Daemon

I grinned at Crew as he pulled out two sodas, and carried them to the coffee table in front of the television, then he raced back in and looked at Aliyah, “Mommy? What are you having?”

She hummed, “I think I’ll also take a soda, kind sir.”

He giggled and then got her one as well.

I carried everything I could to the coffee table and then sat down as Aliyah placed silverware and napkins next to the food.

Crew looked at me and began to explain how they did Chinese night. “Okay, we each have five minutes to eat whatever we want from one carton. Then we put it down and pick up another, and we do that until we’re full. Mommy and I don’t have cooties. Do you?”

I had just taken a swig from my soda and then promptly choked.

Aliyah was laughing at me, so I glared at her and then looked at Crew, “No, buddy. I don’t.”

Then he nodded. And that was that.

Aliyah pulled up Prime and scrolled to the new releases, and we all said yes or no on a movie after we read the description, and it wasn’t until we all said yes to one that she bought the movie.

And then she looked at her watch, “Okay, get ready. You grab the first container, in three, two, one.”

And then the two of them grabbed what they wanted, and I chuckled, then grabbed my own.

As we watched the movie, every five minutes we sat our containers down and picked out another one.
