“Mmmm,” she moans appreciatively as she lifts her nose in the air and inhales dramatically. “Is there enough for me?”

Not really. “Sure,” I say, sighing as I hand her my plate.

“Thank you,” she singsongs as she takes a seat at the dining room table. “Why are you making breakfast? You’re aware it’s almost two in the afternoon, right?”

I glower at her. “It’s always morning when you’re hungover, no matter the time of day.”

I start making myself yet another plate of food, sipping on the bitter black coffee as I do. Sarah starts shoveling food into her mouth like she’s never eaten a day in her life.

“So, I was thinking,” she starts around a mouthful of eggs, “Blue is coming over tonight, and he’s bringing a friend.”

I place my cooked bacon slices on some paper towels before cracking some eggs into the frying pan. “Blue? The guy you were fucking all Thursday night?”

She smirks and nods.

“Okay…”

She goes to the fridge and pours herself some orange juice. “We all want to go out to dinner, and then SIN afterwards. His friend wants to come, but he doesn’t want to third-wheel, and I figured since you haven’t had a date in… Well, you haven’t had a date since I’ve known you.”

I take a bite of my toast while my eggs finish up. “You want me to entertain your boy-toy’s friend for the night?” I ask, a little harshly.

Sarah chuckles and tucks a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. “He’s not my ‘boy-toy’. I really like him,” she says earnestly.

I sigh and nod. When my eggs are done, I plate my food and join her at the table. She offers me some juice, but I shake my head and take a sip of my bitter black coffee. “So, you want me to keep him company while you and Blue have fun?”

“I would really appreciate it,” she says sweetly, batting her eyelashes innocently.

“Who even names their kid Blue?” I grumble, taking a bite of bacon.

Sarah rolls her eyes. “It’s obviously a nickname, Jas.”

“Right. So, what’s his real name?”

She shrugs. “Hell if I know.”

I lift an eyebrow. “You’ve never asked him?”

She giggles again. “In my defense, there’s not a whole lot of talking when we’re together, if you catch my drift.”

I want to gag, but don’t want to risk actually dry heaving. “I do catch your drift, and now I’m tossing it back to you.”

“C’mon, Jasmine. Will you do this for me?”

I grunt.

“It’ll be fun!”

Against my better judgment, I actually start to consider it. Is this really what I should be doing? I have to leave, but if Ezra hasn’t been here yet, it might mean he still doesn’t know where I live.

At this point, I’ll tell myself anything to stay.

I huff out a breath, stabbing my fork into my eggs. “Fine. But you owe me.Big time.”

She squeals in delight and wraps me in a bear hug. I wince, but hug her back. Maybe I can have just one more night of fun, one night to forget about the shitshow calledMy Life. As soon as we leave the club, I’m leaving Oakwood for good.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she repeats over and over.

I laugh. “You’re welcome. But I’mnotdrinking tonight.”
