“You’re delicious,” he whispers in my ear as he takes my hand.

It sends shivers down my body. Fuck. I look up at him and he’s smiling at me. Okay fine. I’m a little insecure about my appearance. I’m not a walking twig, I’m a fluffy branch. And with the way the dancers are eyeing him and his club brothers? Yeah. They could have their pick. Yet his gaze is fixed on me.

“Stop staring at me,” I snap. “And let me go, I gotta get back to work.”

“What if I don’t want to let you go, Lila? You said you would call, but you ghosted me. And I’m not going to let you do that again,” he says quietly to me.

I frown at him. “I didn’t ghost you. I’ve just been busy. As you can see, I have two jobs. I don’t have a whole lot of free time.” I don’t know why I’m throwing so much attitude his way. He’s the last person that deserves it. But I can’t help being defensive.

“Why are you mad at me? Every time I see you at the clubhouse, I try to talk to you, but you disappear.”

He does sound disappointed that I keep running from him.

“Okay, if you want me to stop chasing you, you need to say it, cupcake. Otherwise Iwillmake sure you know how much I want you.”

Wait. What is even happening? He keeps saying he wants me and I don’t know what to do with that.

“Do you want me to back off, cupcake?”

I slowly shake my head no.

“Good. That’s the answer I was looking for. What time do you get off tonight?”

“Um. We do last call at two-fifteen, close at three. I’m usually out pretty close to that.”

He nods at me. “Did you drive to work?”

“I did.”

“Give me your keys. I’ll have Granchio take your car to the clubhouse. You can ride with me when you’re done.”

“I’m not getting on your bike when you’ve been drinking.” I may have a haze of lust surrounding me when it comes to Hollis, but that doesn’t mean I’ll ride with him if he’s buzzed.

“Cupcake, I haven’t touched any alcohol tonight, so if that’s your only rule, I’m down.”

I must be hallucinating. Maybe I bumped my head. Because why else would Hollis be chasing me and agreeing to whatever I say?

In a daze, I start to turn so I can get back to work when he grabs me from across the bar and kisses me. Not just an oh-hello kiss. It’s a you’re-mine-and-everyone-here-is-going-to-know-it kiss. I melt into him as I feel his tongue running across my lips. I moan and kiss him back.

His club brothers are whistling at us, and as I break the kiss, I can feel the heat rising on my cheeks.

“I still need your keys, Lila.”

“Let me get some drinks out, and I’ll get them. They’re in my locker,” I say to him.

He nods and takes a seat at the bar. I watch him scan the room and scowl at any guy who looks in my direction. As soon as I get caught up with drinks, I slip back to the locker room, grab my keys and bring them out to him.

Hollis

“That’s my girl,” I say as Lila hands me her keys.

“Can you get Lila’s car to the clubhouse for me?” I ask Granchio.

“We can do that,” Charmaine says. I see her wink at Lila. Lila responds by sticking her tongue out at her.

“Are you sure?” I say.

“Definitely. We were gonna leave in a bit anyway.”
