“Why would you do this to me, love? Why would you pretend to love me? Don’t you know how much I’ve loved you all this time, how this is going to break me, why?”

At first Danny seemed mad, his eyes intent on Sienna as he moved slowly. She watched every move, never taking her eyes off him. “Oh Danny, I tried to love you. I just couldn’t do it, you are too giving, too kind, and too loving. I need a man with more backbone than that, a man who can easily be in charge, like your brother.”

She looked at me. Eloise didn't move an inch, her eyes pleading with me to help. I smiled at her, nodded my head to let her know I understood. When I looked Danny was at Sienna’s feet on the other side of the bed, still intensely focused on her.

“What if you were wrong about me Sienna? If you would have just told me, talked to me I could have forgiven you, I love you that much. It’s just stuff.”

She kicked her foot out then to hit his leg, Danny didn't flinch or blink other than to look me in the eyes. I knew what he was about then, he wasn’t upset anymore, at least not on the outside.

He was intent on helping Eloise and putting an end to this madness that Sienna caused, then he would deal with his emotional pain.

“Oh Danny, you are so gul ible, I could never love you, not when my heart already belonged to another. Luis is the only man I will ever love, and I don’t even love him enough. I am pregnant with his baby, not yours, and I plan on going to Mexico and sel ing it to the highest bidder. I’m not cut out to be a mother, let alone a wife. I want money and lots of it, then I can spend the rest of my life partying.”

“I don’t think so.” Danny moved so fast I could barely keep up. In a split second he dove at Sienna and grabbed the gun, turning it to the ceiling. They fought wildly and I barely got Eloise out of the way in time to hear the gun go off twice.

I tossed Eloise behind me, and backed her out the door, praying my brother had everything under control. Once out the door I cradled Eloise in my arms. “I am going back there. Call the police and go hide in the bathroom. Don’t unlock the door until I tell you to.”

She nodded then, the tears she’d been holding inside now showed up, pouring down her cheeks. I stepped back and went back into the room; it was way too quiet, and I was afraid of what I might find. I didn't know if someone had been shot during my brother’s fight to get the gun from Sienna.

I opened the door smoothly, my back turned so I could prepare myself for whatever I might see.

I heard Eloise talking through the door of the bathroom, in between her crying she was talking to the police.

“It’s okay brother.” I turned to hear my brother’s voice; happy he was okay. When I turned around, I was shocked to find Sienna in his arms, unconscious. The pain I saw in my brother’s eyes, pain of all he’d just been through, pain of all he’d lost, broke my heart into pieces.

There beside him, Sienna lay, still wrapped in his arms, her eyes closed blood all over her pink nightgown. “Oh god Danny.”

“She pointed it at herself after I let go. She took her own life and that of her babies. Wes, she’s gone.” Danny collapsed then, buried his face in her hair, held her so close I didn't dare touch him. He’d been through so much in the space of half an hour I wasn’t sure he wouldn't lose his mind and do himself harm so I did the only thing I could do.

I used a tissue to grab the gun and carried it out the door after I closed it, but I could still hear his crying and agony, I never felt so helpless in all my life.

When the police and ambulance arrived, Eloise climbed into the ambulance headed for the hospital to make sure she and the baby were okay. “Are you going to be okay?”

Her eyes were red, she was horrified, and I could do nothing at that moment but watch as they strapped her into the bed. “Yes, I am fine Wes. Thank you.” She tried her best to smile.

When they closed the door, I was left to deal with my brother. I didn't know what I would find.

He refused to go to the hospital, and with the police done getting the details of what happened he sat on the couch, the vodka bottle nearby.

I sat down beside him after sending a text message to our other brothers’ in hopes they would come and check on him, to make sure he was okay. Right at that moment I needed all the help I could get.

“You should have gone with her to the hospital.” He took a big swig of the vodka.

I nodded, the image of Sienna with blood all over her still fresh in my mind.

“You know I loved her so much I could have forgiven her for everything. I still wanted her, am I insane?”

“Not at al Danny. Love does strange things to us all.” I took a drink of the vodka when he handed me the bottle.

“What in the hell do you know about love Wes?”

“Nothing, I don’t know anything about love.” Danny cried again, a gut wrenching, deep, guttural cry one heard when an animal in the wild lost its mate, it numbed every thought I had in my head, every feeling I felt, until there was nothing left but emptiness and loss.

He drank himself into a stupor that afternoon. I was thankful when everyone arrived, I gave them the low down via text message and was thankful when they all came in to help take care of big brothers.

“Danny is lying down, actually I think he passed out, drank al that damned Vodka.”

Bradley stood at the end of the counter, his keys jingling on the edge. “I’m gonna go have a look, then you are going to give us all the details. I can’t even comprehend how this happened.
