His overwhelming scent washed over me, and I had to use every bit of control not to jump on him like a cat in heat.

The bartender stared between us, his face paling as he realized his epic mistake when he drugged me. “I, uh, I…”

Fane shoved him out of the way and pulled me from the room, my head spinning and temperature rising as we passed the black curtains and entered the club. But the danger wasn’t over. The mystical drug still ran rampant through my system, and there was no telling what I might do to ease this hunger drowning me.

ChapterThirty-Two

Logan boltedfrom the couch in his living room as Fane helped me through the door, his hands on my waist causing waves of electricity to ripple through my body and pulsate between my legs. I broke out of his hold and stumbled toward the kitchen.

If I had to spend another second with him all around me, I’d start dry humping him.

I wanted to cry and scream. But more importantly, I wanted him to push me down and have his way with me, do terrible, depraved things. Fuck the consequences.

“What happened to her?” Logan studied my torn shirt, blood, bruises, blown-out pupils, and flushed skin.

Fane dropped his keys on the kitchen counter. “Rapture.” He leaned over it, his fingers digging into the hard surface.

Could he feel the effects of the mystical drug through me?

“You took Rapture?” The demon scrunched his nose. “You don’t seem like the type.”

A hysterical laugh exploded out of my mouth as I ripped the freezer door open. “I didn’t take shit.” I grabbed a bag of frozen vegetables and placed them on my chest to soothe some of the fires raging within. “That prick bartender drugged me.”

Fane’s head jerked in my direction, and a slew of curses burst out of his mouth. “I’ll return for him.”

I stuck my head in the freezer, trying to find any relief as the two of them argued.

“I told you to watch her,” Fane hissed.

“Did you want me to bring her into the shower with me?” Logan gave a dry laugh. “Yeah, I didn’t think so. Besides, if you hadn’t gone to see Marissa, none of this would have happened.”

A whimper slipped out, and a tear slid down my cheek. This wasn’t working. Nothing was working.

I threw the bag of vegetables back into the freezer and slammed the door closed so hard items inside toppled over. Fane and Logan’s bickering halted.

“Where are you going?” Fane asked.

I ripped my top off and staggered toward the hall, not caring if either one of them saw me completely naked, “It’s too hot! I can’t fucking take it.” My voice cracked, and I bit my trembling lip until blood seeped into my mouth.

“Go after her.” Logan shoved the demon shifter’s shoulder. “Don’t let her suffer like this.”

A string of curses tore from Fane, and he followed me into my room, stomping into the bathroom. Moments later, the shower cut on.

I crashed onto my bed and yanked my boots off, every touch on my ultra-sensitive skin torturous. I fell back, my hands curling into the covers as I vibrated with need.

Fane loomed over me, the fury in his expression making me shiver. Without a word, he grabbed my arms, pulled me up, and shoved me into the large shower. I clenched my teeth as the cold water hit me, cooling and numbing the sensations.

Not enough, though.

Heat pressed against my back as Fane stepped into the shower with me. I turned to him, his nostrils flaring like a wild beast and his jaw so hard and sharp he could slice me with it. Rage made the flecks of gold in his amber eye and the hints of silver in the blue one blaze like smoldering fires ready to melt my flesh.

But there was something else lingering in the depths of those mesmerizing irises. And it yanked the air right out of my lungs.

He closed the distance between us, his clothes getting soaked in the spray and wet black hair streaking his carved face. “I’m beginning to believe you’re more trouble than it’s worth.” His fingers traced the sun tattoo below my ribs.

I gasped from the sensation. “Then kill me already.”

“I can’t.” Fane grabbed my chin hard enough to bruise, forcing me to look at him. “This won’t be pleasant or sweet.” A leer pulled at his lips. “But I guess that suits you just fine.”
