“Wow, I can see a lot of Violet’s taste in this furniture," Liv said.

“Yeah,” Charlie replied. “She picked out a lot of it, but we split who got what over time.”

“I mean I love it. I think this house is so… the both of you," Liv said. “It’s a good thing. You guys mix well.”

Charlie smiled at her, and that was when Violet came into the room holding a plate of snack foods. She sat it down on the table and hugged Liv. “I’m so glad you guys made it!”

“Thank you. It looks great in here," Lewis said. “I was just telling Charlie it finally looks finished.”

“It does!” Violet smiled. “I mean, it was great before, but I like how it’s coming together.”

“Me too," Charlie said.

“It does look great,” Lewis said, smiling. “How are you two doing? Any big blowouts over… I don’t know, curtains?”

“I don’t actually have a strong opinion about curtains,” Charlie said.

“I do, and that’s why those are there.” She pointed to the green curtains she had gotten a few weeks ago. She had told him it tied together the living room and curtains and she was kind of right.

“Those look nice,” Lewis said, turning around. “I can’t believe you’re having a party. Charlie, are you sure you haven’t been taken over by an alien?”

“Sometimes I worry about it.”

Violet rolled her eyes. “His house was amazing. He just needed someone to remind him.”

Lewis looked at Violet and smiled. “Yeah, maybe he did need that.”

“Hang on,” Liv said. “We’ve been here too long and neither of us have said it. Violet, congrats on your promotion!”

Violet smiled and Liv brought her into a tight hug. Both talked excitedly about the future, and Charlie could only smile. He was so glad she chose him.

He glanced over at Lewis, who looked as happy as he did.

“You did good, man,” he said.

Charlie looked over at Violet and nodded. He could only hope he would continue to do good. He had one last surprise for her, after all.

Micah arrived next. She walked in and smiled at everything, telling them both it looked amazing, even if it wasn’t her style. She told them how amazing it was they were trying to move past their fighting and trying a relationship. She also mentioned she had always suspected they had a thing for each other.

Charlie could only agree because she was exactly right.

His mom arrived sometime later, her new girlfriend in tow. Violet had quietly grabbed his arm and gestured to the door when they had walked in.

“Hey, mom," Charlie said. His mother’s jaw had dropped, and she looked around in awe.

“Oh my god," his mom said, her voice wavering. “It looks so good in here.”

“Hi Ms. Davis," Violet said.

His mom turned to her. “Did you help him with this? Did you make this house look so lived in?”

Violet blushed. “I mean, I wouldn’t say it was all me, but-“

“It was," Charlie said.

“Thank you!” His mom exclaimed, hugging Violet tightly. “Oh, you don’t know what it means to me to see this house so loved and lived in again.”

“It’s a beautiful house. I just added a few things.”
