Violet looked at Charlie with a bewildered expression, and he took a deep breath, trying to calm down.

“What happened?” Lewis said, walking over to them. “Your apartment is gone, and you were supposed to stay with us after we left.”

Violet went a little pale. Charlie could see she was getting overwhelmed.

“Violet’s landlord sold the building,” he said.

Liv looked at him with a sharp gaze, not letting Violet go. “I think she can tell us what happened.”

“N-no,” Violet said. “he’s telling the truth. My old apartment was sold instead of being repaired.”

“What? So, you have to find a new place to live?” Liv asked.

“I …” Violet looked at Charlie, bewildered.

“She has a place to live,” Charlie added.

“Hang on, what is going on?” Lewis said. “Violet, why did you come in here yelling at Charlie? Have we moved into instigating a fight in his home now?”

Liv glared at her husband and hurt flashed across Violet’s face.

“Lewis,” Charlie said, frustrated.

“What? I’m defending you, man. If she’s coming to your house-“

“I’m not mad at Charlie,” Violet said. “I was …. I wanted to vent to him. I was in a god-awful parent meeting, and I had my phone off.”

“Violet,” Liv said. “You’re literally homeless and you didn’t text me.”

Charlie shook his head at the term, looking away before he interjected unhelpfully.

“I’m not homeless,” Violet replied.

“You already found a place?” Liv asked. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“You were on your honeymoon," Violet said. “I wasn’t going to bother you. Besides, I found a solution quickly.” She glanced over at Charlie.

“Hang on,” Lewis said. “Why did you look at Charlie?”

“Lewis…” Liv said, irritated.

“No, I am always reading you too when you’re in the same place. Violet has looked over at him four times. Usually when that happens, you two fight.”

“We’re not about to fight,” Charlie hissed.

“Yeah, I’ve heard that before.”

“Guys,” Violet snapped. “I’m living with Charlie! Full stop, end of story.”

Both Liv and Lewis turned to her. “What?” They yelled in unison.

“It’s the easiest solution, okay?” She said. “It’s close to school and I can help him save up for things while I pay some bills.”

Liv looked like she had been slapped.

Lewis shook his head. “I don’t even have words to describe what a bad idea this is.”

“That was for us to decide,” Charlie said. “And it would have been easy for us to tell you if you had given us a minute to think about how we would go about it.”
