Tim, Matt, and Oliver had been digging in another spot, but now they retraced their steps back to the men.

“What's the scoop?” Matt called out.

Brooks tapped on his phone some more. He looked baffled. “I just checked in with my team. According to the intel we gathered, it should be here. Banks should be here.”

Trey's phone buzzed. He pulled it out and looked at it, then started running toward the helicopter, yelling over his shoulder, “Banks has surrounded the house.”

They all jumped on.

Trey cursed and then looked like … like he might cry. "No way."

"What?" Marshall said, bumping his shoulder.

Trey let out a little laugh. "You're not going to believe this … Trent showed up."

Sucker punched, would be how Hunter felt right now. "What the heck?"

Trey laughed, his eyes shiny. "I don't know. Apparently, he was captured by the Taliban before that bomb went off and … he got out."

Hunter couldn't believe it, he laughed and then instantly was crying.

Brooks put his arm around him and, as Hunter turned to him, he had the same expression on his face. "Holy crap."

Marshall let out a long battle cry. "That's right!" Whoo! "Stone brothers never die!" Whoo!

Chapter 33

Cheryse hadn't been prepared for Ava’s efficiency. She pulled out an assault rifle, pistol, and shotgun. “This is what we have in the panic room; these are Trey’s weapons of choice, they’ll have to work for us.”

Cheryse wasn’t great with guns. She’d only shot one a few times.

Trent rushed into the room, holding another rifle and a couple of hand guns he put in the back of his pants and held one up. "Who needs it?"

Ava opened the desk and grabbed a Glock. She put it in Cheryse’s hand. “I'm going to give Cheryse this one. And, Reese, I'm going to leave you and Kensi in here with the kids.”

“I’m staying with them,” Serenity said, pulling a gun from a holster on her lower back.

Trent nodded to Serenity, who leaned into him, giving him a hug. "You just get back and the action starts right up."

Trent grimaced. "I'd be disappointed if it didn't."

Liberty looped her arm through his. "I wouldn't."

Their gaze held and Cheryse couldn't believe this whole scenario.

Serenity held up her gun. “This is a Beretta 21A Bobcat.” She kissed the side of it. “I wouldn’t go anywhere without it. Neither should you.”

“You pack a gun all the time?” Cheryse asked, feeling a bit startled, but it shouldn’t surprise her.

Trent cursed. "Everyone in this family should have a concealed carry." He took a moment to make sure Cheryse understood when the safety was on or off.

Ava pointed at her. “After we leave here, push this button.” She pointed at a button next to the door on the wall.

Cheryse nodded.

Ava pointed at all of them. “And you don't open the door unless we text you. I don't care what you hear. You don't open it. Understand?”

Trent nodded. "That's right. We'll come back for you, don't worry, listen to Ava."
