“Joking aside…” he says. “You know more about us––“

I flick my hand up, stopping him.

“Please don’t say us.”

There. I slipped. And now I’m officially on a slippery slope, and if I spend another second with him, I might do something stupid like break down.

He can’t see me like this. Because I’m not like that. It’s just that today has been a roller coaster. And I need some time to clear my head.

I need a lot of time to clear my head, and preferably alone.
