“Not particularly.”

Chaz turns to me. “What the fuck, man? They’re women. They have pussies. By definition, it means you like them.”

I shrug, and we wash our hands before walking out of the restrooms again.

“I just don’t like them. I’m here for you, so you can get laid. I told you I want a quiet night.” I don’t tell him that I don’t feel up to anything because that’s a lie. I fucked Raina good and hard, and that was when I still felt like shit.

I also don’t tell Chaz the truth—that none of those girls are anything like Raina, and for some fucked up reason, that turns me off.

I can’t tell Chaz that. Putting it to words would mean admitting it to myself. And the last thing I’m going to do is admit that that woman is doing something to me—something I hate…and want more of.

Chapter 9

Raina

Someone knocks on my bedroom door. I was napping on my bed, and the knock jerked me out of a deep sleep. My heart is in my throat right away. It must be my dad. He’s here for money, and I have nothing for him.

I’m scared to open the door. He’s not going to beat me up here on campus where everyone can see him, but I don’t know what he’s capable of. I don’t trust him.

I consider climbing out of my window. I’m on the second floor, and it will be a bit of a drop. But if it’s going to save my ass…

“Raina?” a voice asks, and it’s not my dad.

“Kat?” I ask and open the door. “What’s going on?”

I rub my eyes, and the adrenaline pumping through my blood starts to fade now that I know I’m not in danger.

“Uh…have you seen this?” She hands me a flyer.

It has my face on it and my number, and it says that I need friends. However, the word “friend” is emphasized, and the picture makes me look like friendship is the opposite of what’s on my mind.

“What the hell?” I ask. “Where did you get this?”

“It’s all over campus,” Kat says. “What’s going on?”

I sigh. “Stone has got it in for me, and he’s playing dirty.”

“Stone?” Kat asks. “As in…Giles?”

I nod, not knowing how to explain.

“What did you do to him?”

“He started it,” I say.

Kat blinks at me, confused. She shakes her head and looks at the flyer again.

“I don’t know what’s going on.”

I sigh. “He…tricked me…to help him study.”

“That makes no sense,” Kat says. “I don’t think Stone ever studies.”

I know for a fact he doesn’t, but I can’t tell her what really happened without her finding out I’m not supposed to be here. As much as I’m starting to trust her as a friend, some secrets are meant to be kept.

“Well, yeah. That’s why he needs so much help,” I say. “Anyway, when he tricked me, I got mad and told the rival team where he’s training, and…” I swallow hard. “They beat him up.”

Kat’s eyes widen. “That was you?”
