I nod. “I felt like shit about it, so I tried to call a truce.” Was that what we’d done? Sort of…and not at all. “But he’s obviously still upset.”

Kat shakes her head, looking unsure.

“You really shouldn’t get onto his bad side, Raina,” she finally says. “He’s trouble.”

“I know exactly what he is,” I say hotly. “But he underestimates me.”

My phone rings, and it’s a number I don’t know. I don’t pick up. I have a feeling I’m going to start getting a bunch of random calls for a while.

“You’re not getting that?” Kat asks.

I shake my head. “For now, I’ll only answer numbers I know.”

“That might be a good idea.”

“And I need to figure out a way to get even.”

Kat puts her arm on mine, forcing me to look up into her hazel eyes.

“This isn’t going to end well. Just keep doing what you do. Study, get good grades and do what you came here to do. Don’t let him distract you from all that. You’re better than this.”

I nod. “You’re right.”

Kat doesn’t look sure that I’m genuine when I agree, but I look at her long and hard enough that she finally nods too.

“I’m going to go. I’ll see you later?”

I say that we will, and after glancing at the flyer one more time, Kat leaves the room.

Of course, I’m not going to leave it. I thought whatever happened between me and Stone when I went to his room was…special. At least, it was something of a connection, if nothing else. It’s not like I’m expecting to date him, but I thought that he’d at least accept my apology.

Now, it looks like he hasn’t accepted it. In fact, he’s retaliating. He’s taken the next step, and I’m not going to back down.

I grew up being bullied, hurt, and treated like shit for no reason at all. I’m not going to allow him to bully me. I’m not going to allow Stone to do this to me. I’m going to stand up for myself, I’m going to fight back, and I’m going to show the world that Raina Walsh is someone to be reckoned with.

I don’t care who Stone Giles is, because he’s about to learn who Raina Walsh is.

I grab my bag and head out of the room and across campus.

It doesn’t take me long to find the group of guys I’m looking for. They all sit under the trees on the far side of campus, where they’re less likely to be bothered, working on their laptops.

The one closest to me has mousy hair that flops over his forehead, and he is about to enter a life of adult acne. He’s so skinny his chest is concave, and when he looks up at me, he narrows his eyes.

“You need a friend,” he says.

I roll my eyes. “Yeah, thanks. What’s your name?”

He looks around as if I might be talking to someone else.

“Todd,” he finally says.

“Tod…I need your help.”

“What kind of help?”

I sit down next to him. “I need you to hack into the system and change something for me. Can you do that?”

“They’ll expel me if anything like that comes out,” he says.
