Before I went to her room, I chatted for a little while with doctor Stephens. He requested that I bring in Marinka every month for a checkup. None of this was going to be easy. She didn’t remember me, so we had to start over. Stephens made sure to tell me not to have any expectations. Her memories would come back at some point, I believed, and if not, we’d make new ones.

After she said goodbye to all the staff, nurses, and carers, we took our time walking to the car. She wasn’t fast, yet definitely more limber than when I’d last seen her. I started the engine and glanced at her.

“What’s wrong, teacup? Aren’t you excited about going home?” I asked, placing my hands on the steering wheel. Pedro had offered to driver her, but I wanted to do it personally. It was an important day for us all.

“Stop calling me that. I hate it,” she barked.

“Look at me, Marinka,” I said.

She didn’t even move. This was going to be fun because Christ, I was looking forward to the moment when I spanked her stunning ass, making her scream for me. Damn, I was already hard and we didn’t even leave the hospital.

“I don’t want to look at you. Just drive. I want to see Lilly,” she said, staring ahead.

“That’s one strike, teacup,” I growled, really wanting to kiss her. Maybe it was too early for this, but fuck it. She was driving me crazy. That got her attention because she turned to me, frowning.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she asked.

“Every time you defy me, I’m going to punish you.” I winked, then started the engine.

“Fuck you. I’m not your toy to play with and you won’t touch me without my consent,” she snapped again, and I laughed.

“You will want me to touch you, teacup,” I teased.

“We will see about that,” she smirked. “I can’t believe you got rid of Mike. That woman wasn’t as good as him. She had no idea what she was doing.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I said. I liked this new Marinka better. She was confident and had an edge to her, just like Russina used to have. I was looking forward to getting to know her again.

“Come on, don’t lie. I knew it was you. Dr. Stephens said Dr. Mike got offered another job in New York and he had to start immediately. He said the offer was too good to pass up,” she said, sounding very angry.

“Oh, princess, I’m so hurt. How could you accuse me of something like that? I am only trying to protect my interests,” I said, squirming in my seat when my dick started to pulse.

“Sebastian, I might be married to you, but you don’t own me and we can easily get a divorce.”

I turned abruptly to her, losing my wits for a second.

“That’s two strikes, teacup. You belong to me. Your body remembers even if your mind doesn’t, so I suggest you stop provoking me.” I suddenly regretted having her things moved to a guest bedroom. It had been four years, and that was a long time for any man not to go insane.

“You’re not going to touch me, Sebastian,” she repeated, adding, “not until I’m ready.” She folded her arms over her chest. It seemed this discussion was over.

I wasn’t planning to force myself on her—no way. I wasn’t the kind of guy who had to ask for permission. Women simply fell into my arms, but none since I met Marinka on that yacht almost five years ago. I’d tried, but my cock and my heart only wanted her. She was my wife—I had a right to have her—but I didn’t want her to be skittish around me. When we first crossed paths, I wasn’t very accommodating, but I finally had an opportunity to fix this. To fix us.

We didn’t talk for the rest of the drive. While she looked out the window, I gripped the steering wheel so tight, I was surprised it didn’t snap in my hands. The silence was awkward and this wasn’t how I imagined the day would start, but I had to keep an open mind.

“Wow, this is beautiful,” she said when we finally arrived home.

“I moved us here when Lilly was born. It’s safe, and there’s lots of space. I still have the penthouse we lived in when we first got married. It’s closer to work, and sometimes we spend weekends there. Coming to think of it, we should probably spend some time there. Might stir up a few memories…” I told her.

I looked up at the Tuscany-style villa Lilly loved so much, and felt a swell of pride. Marinka was used to a luxurious lifestyle, but after she started college, she’d confided she wanted to distance herself from that life. I had a feeling the sudden death of her brother had something to do with it.

I truly hoped Marinka wouldn’t take it as badly when she finally regained her memories. In the past, she’d cut herself. When I first discovered her scars, I went ballistic for a while. Everything was still new to her, so I couldn’t broach this subject just yet. Hopefully, I wouldn’t have to because this version of Marinka seemed much stronger and wiser.

She looked up at the house in awe, and I’d never felt better about the decision to move into it.

“Let me carry that for you, princess,” I said when she got out of the car and reached for her bag.

“Why don’t you just call me Marinka?” she asked.

“Okay, princess,” I muttered, and smirked at her. She rolled her eyes.
