Dex shook his head, but he didn't look too angry. More resigned than anything. Presumably they had this conversation before. More than once if I had to guess.

"Travel safely," Dex said. "You know what will transpire if anything bad happens to Viva."

"Party time?" I said facetiously.

"The opposite," Dex replied darkly.

"What happens if I let anything bad happen to Bain?" I asked.

Dex chuckled. "I don't know, but I'll think of something."

"It's nice to know you care," Bain said, his tone devoid of emotion.

"Isn't it though?" Dex said with a cheeky grin. "I live to please." He gave me a searing look.

I fucking bet you do, I thought.

"If we don't go soon, we won't go at all," I said. Because I would tie them both down and take turns for hours and hours.

"Viva has a point." Bain headed toward the door, leaving me to catch up. He stopped and gestured for me to pass through the door before him. The glance he gave me as I stepped past was no less hot than Dex's.

Bloody men. If they wanted me to end up in a puddle on the floor, they might just achieve that.

Dex followed me out and closed the door softly behind him.

"Is the Alpha okay?" I asked. "And Gwendolyn."

The mention of her name made Bain visibly uncomfortable. Had she tried something with him when they were alone? Seducing him, perhaps? I couldn't blame her if she tried, Bain was hot. The fact she was married was her business.

And Devlin's. He might approve, for all I knew. An heir was an heir, if people didn't know the whole story.

Right?

"He's fine." Dex was the one who replied. "They're both shaken, but they won't let it stop them from living their lives. I've assured them it won't happen again. The new measures Bain set in place should make sure of that. Once you speak to the Watcher, we might have a better idea of why it happened."

"You're certain he was involved?" I asked.

"He makes the most sense," Dex replied. He didn't look convinced.

I suspected he still thought Gwendolyn was involved in some way, and hoped like Hades we'd find out he was wrong. For his sake and hers, I hoped so too.

"We’ll get answers," Bain assured him.

"Good." Dex stayed at the top of the stairs while we trotted down.

I looked back up and smiled as he blew me a kiss. I'm pretty sure if he had a phone, he'd text me a few kisses and an eggplant emoji. Did he even know what an emoji was? I had a feeling he did. If not, I would fill him in later.

"You're riding with me," Bain said.

For a moment I thought he said I was riding him, before his real words sank in. Lucky I didn't say anything stupid like 'fuck yeah'.

I swallowed. "Right, okay. Does that mean Knox and Wesley are riding together?" Wesley might enjoy that, but I wasn't sure Knox would.

"Yeah," Bain replied simply.

"Did you have to fight Knox to ride with me?" I asked jokingly.

Bain hesitated.
