Even the name was ominous.

"He'd come looking for you," she said. "Even if he has to throw you over his shoulder and carry you back downstairs. He wouldn't even break a sweat to do it."

"Are you suggesting I pick Bain?" I asked.

"I wouldn't dare." Zophia stretched out her legs and leaned to pick up her empty cup. "I have a business arrangement with Dex. I wish you happiness, no matter who you choose." She toasted me with her cup and got to her feet.

"Thanks. I think." I made a face at her.

She responded by laughing. "Have a good journey and stay safe." Her expression turned serious and she added, "Keep an eye on Slade. Even if he isn't plotting against the Alpha, he always had an agenda of some kind."

"Who doesn't?" I asked.

She considered that for a moment. "Right, but some have a bigger one than others. Just—keep an eye out, okay?"

"I will," I promised. I rose and gave her a hug. "I'll also keep an eye out for a girlfriend or two for you. Then I can help you with your love life."

Zophia grinned. "Please do. I could use a bit of excitement in my life. And some boobs."

"We could all use some of that," Dex said as he stepped into the room.

"Perfect timing." Zophia shot him a warm smile. "I was just leaving." To me, she said, "Later," and swept out the door in a flourish of expensive skirt and knee high boots. I had to give her credit, she always looked good.

"Bye," I said as the door closed behind her. "So, you were saying something about boobs?" I turned a sweet smile on Dex.

He responded with a sultry one, which almost set my panties on fire. "Just yours," he said.

"That's sweet," I said. Part of me wanted him to jump me. The other part was ready to jump him.

Before I could move a hair, the door opened again. Ireallyneeded to lock that.

Bain strode in, head to toe in black, as usual, doing his impression of a chunk of rock.

"Keeper." He nodded respectfully to Dex, then addressed me. "Are you ready?"

To climb on top of one and ride him like a horse while the other fucked my mouth? Hades yes, yes I was.

I picked up my bag and hoped my face wasn't bright red. "Yep, all ready."

Bain took my bag before I could argue, so I busied myself by pulling on the leather jacket.

"That looks good on you." Dex looked at me admiringly.

"Thanks. It just turned up in my wardrobe. How about that?" I cocked my head at him.

He feigned innocence. "Very strange. Maybe you conjured it up out of thin air."

I snorted. "I wish. That would be a great ability."

"You could conjure a helicopter," Bain remarked. He eyed Dex.

"You and that helicopter," Dex growled. "I told you I'd think about it. Does it look like I'm made of money?"

Bain and I both raised our eyebrows at him.

"I'm not," Dex said. "I can assure you both."

"Okay." Bain clapped him on the back.
