Nodding in acknowledgment, the girls and I walked over. “Hi, ladies. How was your trip?” She asked with excitement.

“Not too bad,” I shrugged, but honestly, I’m exhausted.

“Ladies, I’d like for you to meet my fiancé, Andre Rainer. Andre, this is Taylor and Jade, and of course, you already know Stephanie from Owls,” she said, making introductions.

“Nice to meet you ladies, Stephanie,” he nodded, with recognition when he looked my way.

“How was your trip? We missed you on the plane.”

“We came into LA a few nights ago,” Anne Marie explained. “Andre DJ’s at one of the clubs a few times a year so we flew in early and made an appearance. A little extra fun before we boarded,” she continued, but something about the way she talked about LA told me there was more to that story.

“Now that does sound like fun,” Jade said. “Speaking of fun, what do we have here?” Jade asks, spotting a bucket of ice. “Are these complimentary?”

“They certainly are,” Lila replies, rejoining us - looking casual and ready to hit the pool. “And don’t be shy. You’re all on vacation,” she sings, riling Jade back up.

Those two are going to cause some trouble.

Drawing closer, it wasn’t lost on me how happy Andre and Anne Marie looked together. They kind of reminded me of a simpler time when Logan and I used to look at each other like that.

Placing her hand on my shoulder, Taylor smiled at me. “Want me to grab you a cooler?”

Pushing the old memories aside, I nodded. “Sure, thank you.”

Skimming the lounge, I found the source of what my stomach was craving:tacos. It wouldn’t be a vacation without tacos andLogan?

Heat crawled up my neck and blazed across my skin as I took him in.How is it possible he looks a hundred times more appealing?I sighed. He certainly seems taller now than when I was in his arms a while ago. Broader too.How was it men always age so well?

Changing course when he spotted me, Logan made his way over. With each step that he took, I felt the vibration under my wheels.

Ignoring the hum of energy that curses through my body whenever he’s near, I took a deep breath.I feel like I may faint from the heat my body is giving off just by watching him.

Blowing out the steadiest exhale I could muster, the anticipation of waiting for his arrival has me growing even more anxious. Two more strides and he’ll be standing just inches from me.

Smirking, he tipped his chin. “Fancy meeting you here.”

“Who would have thought my first stop would be near a taco place?” I said, unable to hide a smile as I shielded my eyes from the sun behind him.Forgetting to bring my shades and sunscreen with me was a huge oversight. I made a mental note to but both in my go-bag when I got back to our room.

Unsure of where we stood after all this time, for the first time, I didn’t know how to talk to him. Looking to him for guidance, my eyes landed on his lips, and the way they lifted at the sides, as if he too was unsure of where we stood.

Moving my eyes towards his, they don’t work as hard to fight their amusement as they stare back at me. Noting the way they crinkled at the sides, his irises lit up within. Closing my eyes against the pain splitting in my chest, Logan extended his food. “Nacho?” He asked, knowing they were my weakness.

Seeing this for what it was, I pushed back my tears. Swallowing my pride, I accepted. Reaching for the closest one I could find, I kept my eyes on him.

“Aren’t you going to dip it into the sour cream?” He asks, his infamous, shit-eating grin appearing on his stupidly handsome, sly face.

Pursing my lips, I attempted to scoop a dollop discreetly from the side. “You’re not making this any easier,” I said when he snickered at my poor attempt to do so.

Rewarding me with laughter, I couldn’t help but smile at the amusement written all over his handsome damn face. “Why don’t you just dip the tip?” He said, causing Taylor to choke on her wine cooler.

Abandoning the chip, I directed my attention to Taylor, who was practically coughing up a lung. “You should have a seat before my friend here chokes to death. Are you alright?” I asked Taylor, patting her on the back for good measure. “Raise your arms in the air.”

Clearing her throat, she waved me off. “I’m fine. I’m fine. Something just went down the wrong way,” she smirked, chuckling again at my expense. Shaking my head in amusement, I returned my attention to Logan.

“Sorry about my friends,” I said, still teasing Taylor. “They seem to have forgotten they’re adults.”

“No apologies needed,” he whispered, his eyes searching mine.

A long exhale slipped past my lips as my insides buzzed, either from the alcohol I’d been sipping or the man now sitting in front of me. Wetting my lips, I fed off the adrenaline radiating in the surrounding air. Watching the young man I once knew drift away, a Logan I knew nothing about sat before me.

As his eyes searched mine, I enjoyed having Logan’s attention again. Convincing myself that our flirtation was perfectly innocent for anyone who might be watching; the heat I saw lying beneath the exterior of his brown eyes crackles.

Warming my cheeks, there was definitely still a spark between us. I sense it every time he looks at me. “Something on your mind, Sweet Girl?” He barely whispered.
