Pressing the C level button, Jade turned to Taylor and me. “Is it just me or is Andre hot?” Jade blurted the second the doors closed.

“How long have you been waiting to get that off your chest?” I teased.

“Like you hadn’t noticed.”

“No, I totally noticed.”

“Anne Marie’s certainly a lucky lady, that’s for sure,” Taylor added, fanning herself for emphasis.

“Oh my God. Stop.” She shakes her head. “I’m seriously not going to be able to look at him again if you get my thoughts running like that.”

“That’s a shame. He’s certainly something to look at,” I added, teasing her a little more.

“You two are incorrigible,” Jade shrieked, as the elevator came to a stop.

Composing ourselves, one last chuckle escaped. “Sounds like someone is having fun,” Lila said, acknowledging our fun.

Returning our focus to more important matters, Mabel led us through this fancy deck to a pair of double doors. “The room on the right is for a couple,” she motioned towards Anne Marie and Andre. “And the room on the left features two single beds.” She looked towards Taylor and me.

Must be our room.

“How about we take the two of you into the single?”

Turning towards Taylor, I was grateful I had a friend like her that volunteered to help me out while we were on this trip.

Scanning the key card outside of the cabin, the door swung open automatically with a pop. Leading us into the room, my jaw immediately dropped at the amount of space inside.

Moving into the room, the beds were set-up on the left wall, with an end table on either side of the bed and one in the middle, a plug and a call button beside the beds, and a pull-out couch at the far end. While the right wall featured a standing desk - perfect for adjusting the height so my chair can pull underneath, a dresser, and a TV.

“Wow, this is spacious.”

Mabel smiled with pride. “One of the accessible features that I absolutely love is the balcony,” she says, drawing our attention towards the double doors. “The accessible rooms have almost an entire double balcony, as opposed to the other rooms where they only have this section,” she explains, showing us the increased space.

“I like it,” Taylor sang.

“Isn’t it wonderful? Right now the balcony is enclosed, but these buttons here bring the section down if you want it open.” She showed us how to work the buttons. “These buttons here control the shades like this.”

“I’m speechless.”

Crossing the room, Mabel opened a door by the entrance. “Let me show you to the bathroom.”

Here’s the biggest test.

“A member on our design team is a person with a disability, so she designed all of our accessible cabins.” Mabel switched on the easy-to-reach bathroom light. “Here we have the raised toilet, wide floating sinks, low enough for you to pull your chair under. Then we have the shower, with the drainage here, and the folding bench seat instead of the chair, like other cruise ships. The showerhead swings out in case you want it closer,” she explained, once again demonstrating for us.

Looks good. Maybe I had nothing to worry about.

“I have to admit, I’m impressed. I’ll be honest with you. I was a little worried the cabin wouldn’t be set-up the way I needed, but this is amazing.”

“We’re so glad everything is to your liking. How about you ladies get settled in while I take the other two to their quarters?” Mabel suggested.

“Thank you,” I called after her.

???

By the time it took for us to check in and get fairly settled, we were all starving. In search of something to eat, the girls and I ventured out into the VIP lounge. Spotting Andre amongst a group of patio loungers, immediately I sought Anne Marie.

“Hey guys, come sit with us,” she called out, welcoming us over to the cabana.
