A small smile touches her lips.
Of course.
My wolf huffs.
"Don't encourage her."
Sapphire light pulses through us again.
“You need to find your history too, Arlene.”
My smile disappears. “My history? What do you mean?”
Silence. I stare at her. She stares back. I open my mouth.
White light explodes around us.
The Moon Goddess disappears. The tree vanishes. Silver grass drops away beneath my feet.
My wolf howls. I grab her, locking my arms around her neck as white light engulfs us. She presses against me while we shoot downward through nothing but blinding white.
Then we stop. We're floating. Wind tears through me as I look down.
Selena floats below us.
Glowing.
White light covers her from head to toe, brighter than the moon above her. Her black hair whips around her face as she holds a baby securely in her arms.
The baby is glowing too.
My mouth falls open.
“Selena?”
My wolf stares. Powerful.
"Very."
The baby moves, and white light pulses around them.
“Okay. Why are they glowing?”
Selena doesn't hear me.
My gaze drops farther.
An open casket rests beneath her.
My body lies motionless inside it.
“Oh, Goddess.”
My wolf looks down. Arlene.
"I see it."
Us.
