Sutton caught everyone off guard when she threw a glass bottle at the head of the man who had stolen my attention. The bottle literally shattered on impact, and the man looked unfazed, more shocked, then amused. But we used that moment to bolt past him. With Sutton’s hand in mine, we ran from the aisle, leaving the cart behind. We’d made it to the opposite end of the aisle.
“Quinny!” The man called my name, halting my steps. I couldn’t stop myself from turning to look back. “Don’t make me chase you. I’ve already waited long enough for you.” He was warning me. I could see it in his menacing glare. “If I have to come get you, I won’t show you mercy.”
His words rumbled through my core, and I felt like I was about to explode. If it hadn’t been for Sutton pulling me, I knew for a fact I would have gone to him. For the life of me, I didn’t understand why I felt so drawn to that man.

She was perfect. Quinny was everything I wanted and then some. Her long black locs hung down her back, and all I could envision was her hair wrapped around my hand as I fucked her for the rest of our lives. Her thick, pouty, wide lips didn’t close all the way. I couldn’t wait to have them wrapped around my dick. Her dainty nose had a single piercing on her right nostril. Sha had an oval-shaped head that made her slanted, brown, almond-shaped eyes pop. I wanted to stare into her eyes as I made her cum over and over. Her honey-brown skin had a permanent glow, making it stood out like a star. What I loved more than anything about Quinny was her meaty frame. She wasn’t skin and bones. My soulmate was thick, at least a size fourteen. Her titties were large and round, and all I wanted to do was bury my face in them. I wanted to suck on them and sink my fangs into them, leaving my mark all over them. Her stomach wasn’t all the way flat, but I didn’t mind. Her pouch went with her thicker frame. Quinny’s meaty thighs, yeah, I wanted to live the rest of my life between them. I grinned as I watched her succulent ass jiggle as she and her sister ran from Benji and me. I couldn’t wait until she understood who she was to me and what our connection meant. Quinny was my soulmate, and I wouldn’t rest until she was all mine.
“I knew I should have kept my ass at fucking home.” My brother Benji sighed. He was frustrated, but he’d be okay. He knew this day was coming, no matter what other plans he’d made.
“Melinda is gonna gut you like a fish.” I snickered at his distress. I wished I could have felt bad for him, but this was his own fault. He was too impatient when he knew the time for us to find our soulmates would come eventually. Every vampire had a soulmate that they wouldn’t be able to resist.
The thing about being born a vampire was that sometimes we were born years, sometimes centuries, before our soulmates. That was especially true if your destined mate was a human, which was the case for my brother and me. It wasn’t like he couldn’t fuck others while he waited, but Benji was so thirsty to have a mate that he completed the blood mating ceremony with Melinda. I told him then that he was a dumbass. Just because he thought he loved Melinda, he mated with her. His dumb ass went as far as turning her into a vampire, he thought it would make their connection strong. Benji made that shit up and he knew it would never work out in his favor. Vampires were all assigned a soulmate. Your soulmate was born with the other half of your soul. As vampires, we didn’t come into our full power until we’d mated with our soulmates. A lot of myths stated that vampires didn’t have souls, which was a lie. We had half of our souls, and once we mated with our soulmates, we got the other half. Technically, you could mate with anyone, get another part of a soul, and come into more power. However, regular mating was nowhere near as powerful as the connection with a soulmate. Soulmates were born with your actual other half of a soul, while mates just gave you a piece of someone else’s soul. Which is why the bond was broken so easily when you found your soulmate. The soul you’d connected with didn’t belong to you.
The thing with a lot of vampires like Benji was that they were impatient and hated waiting on their soulmates, so they mated with whoever. Just being mated gave us more power; however, it was nothing compared to being with your soulmate. The instant connection you felt with your soulmate couldn’t be matched. Nothing else mattered when it came to your soulmate. As soon as mated vampires did find their soulmates, the original mate usually got left. The only thing that could stand in the way of two soulmates was distance. Other than that, there was nothing stopping the connection between soulmates. More often than not, when you found your soulmate, you’d end up marking them right then and there. To mark your soulmate, you had to do so during sex. I knew it was taboo for humans to fuck on the first meeting; however, it was inevitable when it came to your soulmate.
Despite what stories claimed, vampires wanted love just as much as the next person. In fact, we craved it more than most, simply because when we had love, our hearts started to beat. When our hearts beat, we were able to do more, like go out in the daylight. We were stronger, more durable, and we aged even slower. When a vampire was in love, we loved intensely, and sometimes it came off as possessive, but it was because we knew the power of love. Just because we were technically dead didn’t mean we couldn’t love.
“This is some bullshit, for real.” Benji groaned, shaking his head.
He knew, just like I did, that he wasn’t going to be able to go without his soulmate. Once a vampire found their soulmate, nothing else mattered. As soon as he completed his Blood Mating Bond with his soulmate his connection with Melinda would be severed. Typically, when vampires mated with someone who wasn’t their soulmate, they moved far away from their home Region to make sure they never ran across their soulmates. Benji foolishly believed that because it had been so long, he wasn’t going to run into his soulmate. He’d been with Melinda for a good hundred years now. Lately, they’d been at odds because they still hadn’t produced an offspring that he’d wanted.
“How much of a head start do you want to give them?” I asked, looking over at Benji.
“Shit, I don’t know about you, but I’m finna snatch Sutton’s ass up. I don’t have time for this cat-and-mouse chasing shit you like to do,” Benji said, scowling as he looked at the door.
“And where you finna take her? Melinda ain’t finna let you bring your soulmate in y’all’s crib,” I said as we began walking side by side toward the exit of the store.
“You know I got an extra house by the lake. Ima take her there until I figure out what the fuck I’m finna do.”
“I told you to wait.” I snickered once we made it outside into the parking lot. Benji flipped me off. He was trying to act like he was upset when I knew he was really happy. No vampire would really be mad about finding their soulmate.
I could smell Quinny’s scent still lingering in the parking lot. I watched as she pulled out of the parking lot in her black SUV. I smiled. She was making me chase her, and I loved it. The sooner Quinny realized she couldn’t run from me, the better off she’d be. Vampires had heightened senses, we could fly, and flashing made it possible for us to move faster than the human eye could comprehend. Being that Quinny is my soulmate, once I found her scent, I’d be able to smell her when she was close by. Her scent lingered because she’d just left the area, making it easier for me to follow her. Another thing that made it impossible to deny your soulmate. Their scent would entice you until you couldn’t ignore it anymore or you lost your mind, whichever came first.
“Can’t change the past now.” He sighed before flashing off in the direction Quinny and her sister drove in.
I followed suit. It wouldn’t take that much time for us to catch up to them. When we flashed, we became invisible to the human eye because it couldn’t keep up with the speed we moved at. We followed the girls’ scents, and in no time, we’d found their car speeding down a back road by a bunch of farmland. Lucky for us, there was no one other than us on this road.
“I’ll cut them off,” I said to Benji as I flashed past the car, running about a mile ahead of them. I stopped, standing in the middle of the road and facing the bright headlights of the car. It took a second before I heard the sound of screeching tires.
I smirked as I locked eyes through the front windshield with a frightened Quinny. I licked my lips, contemplating all the things I was going to do to her once I got her all alone. She wasn’t going to make it through this night without my fangs in her skin and my dick buried in her sweet pussy, hopefully if things went how I wanted. If I had my way, she’d be carrying my offspring before the next week began. She might be scared now, but once I was done with her, I’d have her longing for me. Begging for my touch, my kisses. She’d want me more than she wanted her next breath.
“I found you,” I said, speaking into her mind, and I watched her eyes widen to twice their normal size.

“What the fuck was that back there?” Sutton asked in a panicked voice once we were inside my car. She kept looking back out the rear view window trying to see if they were following us.
“I-I-I don’t know,” I said, still trying to process what was going on around us.
I really felt like I was losing my ever-loving mind. Never in my life had I experienced anything like that. If Sutton wasn’t here, I would have believed I’d imagined all of that, but there wasn’t any way we’d both imagined the same thing.
“You know what? I don’t even give a fuck,” Sutton exclaimed. “Just drive before those niggas come out here.” My sister was scared, and that wasn’t like her at all. Sutton wasn’t scared of shit. Let her tell it she was the fearless one.
