“Who are you going to the bar to meet?” Say no one. Please, say no one.

“Does it matter?”

Fuck. “I heard Jenn hangs out there. You shouldn’t go somewhere…”

“Jenn is a friend. There’s nothing wrong with us hanging out together.”

The air left her lungs. It didn’t whoosh out. She didn’t gasp. That shit just dissipated as if it never existed. He turned to her. “See you tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow? Tomorrow is the full moon.”

“Your point?” He left the room.

Mouth hanging open, she stared after him, until he was no longer within sight. She didn’t regain her ability to speak until she heard the front door slam shut and heard the lock click into place. Sin slumped down onto the bed.

“What’s happening? Why is he acting like this?”

Speaking from experience, the only time men switched up like this was when they were cheating. That ache in her chest intensified. Kaede wasn’t cheating. He couldn’t be. He was a virgin until a couple of weeks ago. She was his first. Plus, he was madly in love with her. There was no way he’d cheat.

She was his mate. Shifters took that shit seriously. But, Kaede had lived his life mute and sexually frustrated. Now, he was neither. What if the honeymoon phase was over and now, he was eager to find out what other women felt like? What if he was regretting being paired with a plus size witch and wanted to try a petite woman, like Jenn.

“I will break that bitch in half if she touches my man.”

But it took two to tango. What if Kaede wanted her just as much as she wanted him? If that was the case, Sin would break them both in half. Kaede had just showed her how to strike down a dragon. She bet he hadn’t expected her to use that trick on him. She climbed off the bed and stormed to the back porch.

Her sword was right where she’d thrown it. She snatched it up. It was time for her to go hunt down a dragon bastard and a succu-bitch. She busted into Santiago’s bar like she owned that bitch. Everyone turned to look at her. Damn, this party was lame. There was only Rhen and Santiago at the bar. In the corner of the room was…. Sin saw red.

“Oops,” Jenn giggled. “I think your mate caught us.”

That bitch had her hand on Kaede lap, inches away from his dick. And his bitch ass hand his hand on her hip. Her motherfucking hip.

“Calm down, Sin,” Rhen said from the bar.

Her gaze jerked to him. “Fuck you. Some kind of friend you are. You see this shit.”

Rhen shrugged. “He’s a grown man. Men should be allowed to sow their wild oats.”

She couldn’t believe Rhen. “I’ll deal with you later,’ she told Rhen pointing her sword at him. She faced Kaede. “I’ll deal with you two bitches right now.”

“Leave, Sinclair,” Kaede told her. He sounded cold, detached. There was no warmth in his gaze when he looked at her. No love. “Can’t you see you’re not wanted here,” he told her. It felt like he’d sunk a dagger into her chest. “I told you I’d be home tomorrow in time for the full moon ritual.”

“Fuck the full moon ritual,” she said, voice shaking. I will not cry, she told herself.

“Aww, the little piggy is about to cry,” Jenn said with a pout. “Does little piggy want a cookie?”

That bitch must die today. Sin dropped her sword to the ground and raised her hands. Fire erupted from her fingers. Jenn’s eyes widened. Sin sent the blaze soaring toward the succubus. The bitch hid behind Kaede, who wrapped his arms around her to protect her from the fire. No, this motherfucker didn’t.

Since he wanted to protect that bitch, he could get it too. She raised her hands again. This time, she didn’t send fire hurtling towards the two of them. Kaede would just absorb it anyway. She sent ice. She may be a fire witch. But that didn’t mean fire was the only power she had.

“Fuck, Sinclair,” Kaede yelled as sharp icicles pierced his flesh.

And still, he protected Jenn. That bitch hadn’t been struck at all. Sin raised her hands again.

“Enough,” Kaede yelled. “Go home. Can’t you tell when a man doesn’t want you?”

It was if his words physically pushed her backward. She stumbled. Rhen was there in a blink of an eye to catch her. She shoved at him, but no longer had the strength to fight. Trying to harm her mate had weakened her. Here this bastard was, cheating on her, hurting her. Yet, she didn’t have the power to hurt in turn.

He deserved to feel a fraction of the pain she was feeling. He deserved to feel like his heart was breaking in two. She hadn’t wanted to fall in love. She hadn’t wanted to meet her mate. He was the one who came into her life, shaking up her world and making her believe in shit like fairy tales and happily ever after. And now, he wanted to pull this shit.
