“You know it. Want to hear my plan?”
“I have no choice.”
“No, you do not. Okay. This is what you need to do. You’re going to meet Jenn at Santiago’s bar. And then….”
“Am I really going to have to touch her?”
“No. Just pretend to touch her when Sin arrives. Now, Sin may try to kill you….”
Kaede groaned as Rhen continued to talk. This was his last night with his mate and it was going to end with her hating him. It was going to end with her thinking he betrayed her, just like his parents died thinking he betrayed them. She’d never know how much he loved her. She’d never know how far he’d gone to protect her.
“Are you willing to do that?” Rhen asked.
He hadn’t heard a thing Rhen said. But it didn’t matter. “I’ll do anything to protect my treasure.”

She spent the entire day at Lee’s house.
And not once did her so called mate come looking for her. Finally, night fell, and Sin began to yawn. Trying to hold out for him to come find her and apologize as working. She was sleepy and she didn’t want to sleep on Lee’s couch. She had no choice but to go home. When she made him, Sin stormed into the house and slammed the door behind her.
She stalked into the bedroom and grabbed the blanket from the bed. His ass was standing near the end-table, rubbing lotion on his ashy ass hands. Not once did he look up. She jerked at the cover that was tucked underneath their makeshift mattress. Each of her movements were hard and precise.
He may not be looking at her, but he was definitely going to hear her. Blanket in hand, she turned and stomped from the room. When she made it to the living room, she laid down on the couch and pulled the cover up over her, covering herself from her head to her toes. Underneath the cover, she lay completely still, waiting, listening.
Was he going to come into the room and complain about how loud she’d been? Or would he complain about the fact that she taken the blanket? He probably wasn’t worried about the blanket. He was a dragon. He could make his own damn heat. She waited for almost five minutes and didn’t hear anything.
This damn shifter was ignoring her. She would not be ignored. Just as she was about to sit up and yell his name, she was scooped up into a pair of strong arms. Her dragon’s arms. She tried to pulled the cover from over her head, but with the way he was holding her, she was trapped within the confines of the blanket. She struggled to break free. It was impossible.
She thought about using magic, but didn’t want to waste her time. When he put her down, she was going to give him an ear full. She landed in heap on the bed. She fought to get the covers off of her. Once she was free, she gasped for air and pushed wild strands of hair out of her face. It felt like her hair was in complete disarray. She probably looked like a madwoman right now. She didn’t care.
“Who told you to bring me back in here? I don’t want to be in here with you. I’ll be sleeping on the couch until you get your attitude together.”
Standing at the foot of the bed with his arms folded over his chest, Kaede glared at her. “You will not be sleeping on the couch.”
“You think you can control everything, don’t you?”
“You won’t be sleeping on the couch, Sin.”
He didn’t call her Treasure. That stung. Ignoring the prick in her chest, she told him, “Once of us will be sleeping on the couch. If not me, that leaves you.”
“Neither of us will be sleeping on the couch.”
“Listen…”
“You listen, Sinclair Rose.”
Damn, he used her last name with it. And he didn’t even add Oshiro to it. What was really going on?
“Kaede, you’re not sleeping in bed with me. And I…”
“You’re right. I’m not. You can have the bed to yourself. I’m going to Santiago’s. Don’t wait up.”
“You’re going to the bar?”
“That’s what I said.”
She watched him search through the closet for some clothes to wear. This motherfucker hadn’t been putting on lotion to come to bed. He’d been doing it because he was getting ready to go to the bar. Bastard.
