She was dying. Bleeding out. She grabbed her cell phone and pressed the number for Venom’s phone. She put it to her ear and listened to it ring, and ring, and ring, and ring. The sound brought tears to her eyes, and she tried to hold in a sob. This was not good.

When it went to voicemail, she didn’t have a clue what she was going to say, so all she did was ask for help. That was what she needed on the side of the road—help.

She closed her eyes, then opened them, looking up at the night sky. It was still dark, but it was so cold, and that cold terrified her. Cold meant death.

She always loved the winter. The ice on the ground, covered in a thick layer of glittering snow, always made everything look so beautiful.

She didn’t know if her blood was bleeding or if it was freezing as it dripped out of her, or maybe it was gushing.

This was how she was going to die. Alone. Without telling Venom she loved him, and she did love him so damn much. She loved him more than anyone in her life.

And he didn’t want her.

Or did he?

Everything was so confusing.

“I need you to find Morwenna,” Venom said, storming into Bolt’s hospital room. He had no way of knowing where Morwenna was, but he knew the guy that would. The same guy that fed her contraceptive pills disguised as freaking vitamins. The same man who he knew had attacked boys growing up that showed any kind of interest in Morwenna. The man that refused to divorce her.

“Why?” Bolt asked. “What’s going on?”

“She’s in trouble and I can’t find her and I’m not going to waste time, when I know for a fact you will have some kind of tab on her. It’s you, so where is Morwenna!” He was close to losing his shit right now. “Don’t try to lie and play coy. You will have some kind of radar on her. I need you to find her.”

He pulled up the voicemail, put it on speaker just as Maverick, Storm, Diesel, and King walked into the room. Security must have alerted them, but that single word spoken loud enough and filled with so much pain, echoed around the small room.

“Bolt!” Storm asked.

Bolt looked to his left. “My cell phone, if it is still working, there is an app linked to Morwenna’s phone.”

Venom grabbed his cell phone and fired up the app, as Bolt tried to leave his bed.

“Son, you cannot help.”

“This is Morwenna. I have to help. It’s my ... it’s Morwenna.”

“I’ll get her,” Venom said, knowing exactly the road she was on. He shoved the cell phone into Gus’s hand and took off, heading out of the hospital. He wasn’t walking, he was running, because he didn’t know how much time he had.

He got on his bike, but then stopped as he realized once he got to her, he was going to need something to drive her. Maverick was there, tossed him the keys, and he rushed toward the club car owned by the Prez.

Climbing into the front seat, he turned over the ignition and just as he was about to take off, Gus and Diesel were able to get into the car. Venom didn’t speak, he drove like crazy, breaking every speeding law, and his only focus was to get to the woman he loved. His heart raced and he felt sick.

This is not what he wanted. Morwenna was supposed to live a long, happy, fulfilling life, where she had a dozen kids and got to have everything she ever dreamed of.

He pressed his foot to the gas as that one word kept ringing in his ear.

Help!

Help!

Help!

It echoed through his brain, and he refused to believe this was the end.

When he got onto the stretch of road that would take Morwenna toward her parents’, he spotted the car first, on its side. He didn’t know what happened, but a couple of the windows were smashed, including the windshield.

Pressing on the brake, he came to a stop. He opened his car door, looked, and it was the faintest breath in the night he spotted first. He got out of the car and ran, as he passed the dead body of one of the Karamazov, and came to Morwenna on the ground. The ground that was icy but beneath her covered in blood. She had cuts all over her face, and in her hands was a piece of glass.
