Next, he went after the boy and did the same, which left him with Morwenna. The kids told her to run, and she did and was able to get away, but not for long, as she was no real match for him. He was able to capture her, pull her into his arms, and then he nibbled her neck for real. She let out a laugh and slumped in his arms.

Venom should have seen the kids’ attack coming. But he was too busy loving the feel of Morwenna in his arms. He never knew it could feel this good to have a woman trust him. She smiled up at him, then the kids attacked—they jumped onto his back, and he played right along with them.

Chapter Seven

“Are you all right?” Venom asked as she put the mug of hot chocolate in front of him.

Morwenna had just put all three kids to bed. Rather than place them in separate rooms, she set up three beds into one. There were bunk beds for the older two, and a single bed they were able to create with sides, for the youngest.

“Yeah, I’m okay.”

“That must have been hard today,” Venom said.

“You know, I thought that as well, but surprisingly, it was not.” She shrugged.

“Do you want to tell me what happened?”

She gave him the rundown, taking a seat opposite him. They were sitting outside, and she left the door open so they could hear the kids.

Morwenna was happy to talk about the kids and the safest of topics, rather than how much she enjoyed Venom’s lips against her neck. They were just playing and entertaining the kids, and it shouldn’t really matter. It was just play.

Yet, she felt her body respond to him in a way she never had before. She was just going to ignore it and consider it a fluke, nothing to take seriously. It just happened. There was no reason to go on thinking about it. They were having fun, and she wasn’t going to spoil their friendship by making a bigger deal out of it than it was.

She gave him a brief rundown of everything that happened. “Then I brought them here, and I think the other two should really have a car seat. I don’t think it’s right me bringing them home without one. I got them washed and I had to change the bathwater three times. Kyle doesn’t even remember the last time he had a bath or a shower.” She shook her head. “I don’t get it.”

“Star is more interested in fucking around the club than she is with those kids.”

She ran a hand down her face.

“You know it’s not your responsibility to be doing this.”

She sighed. “I know. Trust me, I do know, but I don’t mind. You saw them today. They’re good kids and they’re a lot of fun.”

“And they’re more than a handful,” he said.

“I know. I was going to take them back to the clubhouse tomorrow. Bolt can take care of them. They’re his kids.”

Although, she adored them. Even before she found out they were Bolt’s, she always adored them, and she even took care of them. She’d been more than happy to do that. People must have thought she was a big fool.

“How was your day?” she asked, wanting to change the subject.

“Same. Got some stuff done, came to the clubhouse, heard you were all part of the drama, and came here.”

Morwenna sighed. “I seem to be a magnet for trouble. Do you know what the little girl’s name is?”

He shook his head.

“Morwenna. That is what they called her.”

“Your name?”

“Yeah.” She rubbed her temple. “Do you know, when I was taking care of her when she was first born, I was pretty sure Star told me her name was Anna.” She shook her head. “I was lied to at every point.”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I mean, I expected this to hurt a little more, you know. To be painful, but it’s not. It’s strange.”

“Do you think you’re getting over Bolt?” Venom asked.
